Another Gloomy Day

It's overcast and rainy here this morning. Yesterday was actually really nice. I hope we continue to get some nice days here and there before Winter settles in on us. I dread it.

Being from the South (AL and GA the first 12 years of my life) means I am no fan of the Winter. Especially not the snow. Some people think it's lovely - when I see it, I want to pack up and move to Florida. Forever.

I've been here for 25 years, so you'd think I'd be used to it. Nope.

I think I'm cold blooded, like a lizard or a snake.

Maybe that's why I love them so much. We're kindred spirits. I even have a tattoo of a lizard.

I thought today was going to be a day where I could just relax and not have much going on, but I sat down last night and began making a list of things that I did need to do.

Luckily, they're all things I can do inside, at home (pay bills online, make phone calls - that sort of thing).

I've got to get Sissy up and fed, then it's time for my shower and time to get started on my "to do" list.

It'll be a good way to stay busy on this gloomy old day.

  1. Come on... I just love these cool rainy days. The only thing better would be if I was at home sleeping.

  3. I love winter! Until about February, when it WILL NOT GO AWAY, and dirty piles of snow are all over the place. :(

Have some tea, and enjoy a gloomy day inside...those gorgeous autumn days are just around the corner!

  4. I am with you - I HATE everything about Winter. I'd be happy if it were 85 degrees year round. I would move to Florida too but I don't wanna deal w/ the hurricanes. Seems like a crappy trade off to me. No Snow/lots of Hurricanes

  5. Ron - snuggling in bed sounds like a plan. Unfortunately Sissy won't let me. ;-)

Laura - Yep, the crappy, muddy sludge is the worst. I think I will have some tea. Then, it's off to my chores.

Vinomom - okay, maybe not FL, but definitely South(er). LOL.

  6. That snow and ice is one reason why I don't miss living in WV anymore. We get some here, but not as much as you!

  7. Guess you're having the weather we had yesterday. Now, its sunny but the forecast is for 'very cool' weather the rest of the week...a harbinger of things to come. I like the 1st couple of snows....after that, I am done.

You could have Laura come over...she's probably off work...again ;)

  8. I'll never get used to winter again. I like the snow, but only when it keeps me from having to go to work. :)

Come to NC - we hardly get ANY!

  9. kenju - rub it in, why don't cha?

Efen - if Laura comes over, there will be Margaritas, wine and Grey Goose. We'd be too dangerous to get on icy roads. LOL.

Tiff - Don't think I haven't thought about it already.

Sista', "I hate it" doesn't even begin to explain how I feel about winter...
Just be glad your below the Mason Dixon instead of in Piss-ylvania where there are only three colors here in winter: brown, grey and dirty white. I just bought snow bibs for me and the three amigos. Ugh, I could cry!

  11. I bitch quite a bit about the weather this time of year in TX. It is too damn hot to be October. But, I cannot stand snow. I love the heat, here - even though I complain from time to time.

  12. I love the sound of snow falling on snow.

It turned out to be a pretty day. Hope you enjoyed it.

  13. MsPulp - our last few winters have been mild, so I dread this one...

Gigi - That's what I want! Knowing that the kids can wear whatever costume for Trick or Treat and not worry about whether I'll have to add layers to it. LOL.

Inanna - it was nice, then it couldn't decide what it wanted to do. I did get quite a bit off my list, so that's good. :-)

  14. There's something to be said about gloomy days - makes me want to take a nap, slows me down and is in a weird way relaxing. Just as long as there aren't too many gloomy days.
I have to admit, I hated snow growing up in NC and VA, but I sure miss it living here!

  15. I hate winter, but I do miss snow on Christmas.

If it would snow on Christmas Eve and melt the day after, I would be completely content.

Otherwise, cold/rainy weather makes me want to sleep and eat.

    Not together, though.

  16. Here's to hoping tomorrow isn't so gloomy! And to better behaved younglings!

  17. I'm with you. I loath the cold. I love the heat. Luckily I live in the desert.

Even the desert winters are to cold for me. After Christmas, I have no use for them at all.
