These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

I think I've shown you all my pride and joy (of something that isn't directly related to me, anyway).

She's red, she's fast and she's powerful:

She's my KitchenAid stand mixer. Man, I love that thing. I really only rarely use it, but when I do, I get a real kick out of it. She's a Professional Heavy Duty 5Qt baby with bowl lift feature. I highly recommend the extra $$$ for this one (or any of the profesional series).

I've also mentioned my love of Fiestaware. The Evil Twin is lucky enough to work with people who have ties all over with different WV businesses and sometimes, they turn up with perks. Sometimes, he is (we are, I am) the beneficiary of said perks:

Aren't those adorable?? I think so.

Next up on the list is a new addition to the family, but you better believe that I will be enjoying my morning java with this sweet mug:

It's big, too. I should get quite a jolt. (The company, Our Name is Mud, also sells one that states "Proud to be a Bleeding Heart Liberal" - equal opportunity bigotry and all that, you know... LOL).

UPDATED: I forgot about this - and this one is truly one of my favorite things, but Stew likes it too:

It's my retro cherries apron from Jessie Steele. I need to buy the child size one for Sissy. Wouldn't she be an adorable little Mini-Mom in it?

Lastly, one of my most appreciated favorite things these days is this:
Sure, it's a Big Ass TV, but what's most spectacular about it (besides that it's filthy from little toddler hands touching it)?
That it's OFF. That's right. No more Dora, Blue's Clues, Spongebob, depressing news, or asinine programming. Just sweet, sweet silence.
In the evenings, it's just me and my little clicky fingers on the laptop keyboard. And maybe a glass of wine or several. But, the important thing is QUIET.
It's one of my most favorite things.

  1. I think a meme might be starting...

    NOW I understand :)

By the way that coffee cup goes quite well with a certain apron.

  2. I love the Kitchen Aid...especially that it's RED.

Definitely get a matching apron for Sissy - enjoy the mini-me years while they last, they're cute.

I love my "Domestic Goddess" mug. :-)

  3. Outstanding! hahahaha

Oh, if anyone wants suggestive pictures of her in the apron I photoshopped, er wait. I've said too much.

    lolz

  4. I love quiet...Fiesta Ware too, but quiet more. Nick just pulled up in the driveway, guess I'll have to settle for the plates, lol.

  5. You forgot to post the picture of you just wearing the apron in front of the big TV while holding the mug!

  6. Stew - LOL at both comments.

K - my mug is in the dishwasher (too lazy to wash by hand). I hope more people check out the site. They have cute stuff!

MEL - Well, you may have a fussy baby today, but I have to go to Walmart. :-(

    Ron - oh, no you didn't! ;-)

  7. What? Did the family go out of town, or did you just buy ball gags for all of them and chuck them in the basement?

    WHAT'S HAPPENED???

  8. I've got a honkin' red KitchenAid too! It makes lots of cakes for the hub.

This would be a good meme.

Speaking of which, you promised a meme a few days ago!

  9. Tiff - I'm like a ninja. Sneaking around, getting pics when others are sleeping or outside.

Janis - I'm still working on the one I mentioned a few days ago. I'm just trying to decide about stuff... you'll see...

  10. It looks like that mixer could double as a drill as well.

  11. My TV's are off more than they're on here lately, especially in the mornings. I've come to cherish the quiet breakfasts!

My mom had a Kitchenaid mixer - hers was aqua (from the 50's) and my daughter still uses it, believe it or not.

  12. I know how you feel. I'm in love with my crock pot! lol I need to pick up some fabric and make Tina an old-fashioned apron. I've been promising her one forever.

  13. I've GOTTA have that mug! In fact, I need one for my husband, mom, and, dad too!

  14. WOW...my Grandmother had one of those Fiesta Ware (altho I had no idea what it was called before now)pitchers, exactly like your green one! Uh...how much to sell it to me ;)

  15. Oh yes. I would die a slow painful death during holiday season without my mac-mixer. I.Love.It.

Don't you love the times when the only noise in the house is silence??? Yah, me too.

  16. I have the exact same mixer! Way cool whipped up a yellow cake w/chocolate frosting in it today.

Thanks for your kind comments to my blog! Hugs to you!

  17. Holywriter - I don't know about drill, but anvil? Yeah.

kenju - I believe it. I saw a "Made in America" spot on these mixers and it's amazing craftsmanship.

Gigi - just google Jessie Steele. They have the cutest designs.

Honeywine - do as I told Gigi. When you see the prices on those aprons, you will want to go into business for yourself (seriously...I'd be a customer!)

Laureneer - I have a feeling I'll be fighting the Evil Twin over that mug. Might have to order a back up.

Efen - Mine is a mini pitcher. Your grandma probably had the larger Disk Pitcher in Turquoise. You can still find that size and color today (I think my mini pitcher is SeaMist Green, which wasn't manufactured before the 90s and was discontinued a few years ago). Look up Homer Laughlin china.

Catscratch - I don't even turn on the CD player in the car. I prefer silence.

T - I love doing pound cakes with mine. (of course, then I eat the entire thing... BAD!).

  18. Kenju -- KitchenAid hasn't substantially changed that mixer since the 1930's, believe it or not.

  19. I want to bake something now (and you know I don't bake because that involves measuring.) But those mixers are so cool!

  20. It looks like a fine unit. I was given a salad shooter, the way to really stress one is to grind up meat with it, ha, ha, ha.

My coffee cup says, I'M SURROUNDED BY FUCKIN' IDIOTS. My second favorite says, THERE WERE A HELLUVA LOT OF THINGS THEY DIDN'T TELL ME WHEN I HIRED ON WITH THIS OUTFIT.

Maybe I should put you in my blogging buddy folder to remind me to visit you once in a while.

  21. Oh, I'm a basic and thrifty man, my dishes is a set of Corelleware that I bough in about 85.

It's pretty hard to destroy them. Lost one of the plates somewhere though.

  22. I love your TV and mixer! Hell, I have the same mixer!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Janis - I hope mine lives forever and they are well made.

Laura - come over and help me eat pound cake!

CitizenX - thanks! I'll get to it. (I promise...I'm slow, but steady).

BBC - You should visit more often. And Corelle is great. So many neat patterns these days.

LBB - Gotta love the mixer. Is yours red, too?
