I Admit - I Am Lazy!

We had a pretty fun weekend - not much going on Saturday, but on Sunday, the Evil Twin, Sissy and I all went to the grocery store. Buddy wanted to stay home, and since he is 11 and all and we weren't going to be gone long, we decided to let him stay.

I just put a post it note on the phone with my cell number on it, we locked the front door and told him not to answer the door under any circumstances (we live on a dead end street and get so little traffic - and really, the only people at our door are people we expect...but we couldn't leave that point out, just in case, ya know?) and not to answer the phone unless the number on the caller ID matched my cell phone.

Everything went well and now I'm off the hook for my regular Monday grocery trip! Yay!

Buddy had a friend over last night. I woke up at 5 am and had to use the restroom. As I past his room, I noticed the light was still on. When I opened the door, he and his friend were glued to the computer playing one of the games they enjoy.

I was a bit surprised, but I told them to get in bed IMMEDIATELY and get some sleep.

The funny thing is, I couldn't get back to sleep when I returned to bed. I tossed around for a bit and decided to get up - remember - this is shortly after 5 am - not a normal time for me to be awake anyway.

I checked my email and decided to try sleeping again. Wasn't happening. The alarm went off at 6 am, the Evil Twin got up and shortly after, Sissy woke up. I put her in bed with me, turned on the Disney channel and tried desperately to log at least 20 more minutes of sleep.

No.

Got up and made the Evil Twin's lunch, grabbed a sippy cup of milk and some raisins for Sissy and made a third attempt at snoozeville.

So, it's just been a weird morning here.

I got in the shower and I guess the city was flushing the lines or something because the water pressure was terrible! I mean, I could have spit on myself and done a better job than that pathetic trickle of water I was getting.

Of course, after I dried my hair and went to brush my teeth, the water pressure was just ducky.

Here it is, noon and the boys are still asleep (I checked on them).

Random fact of the day: Did you know that at almost any time of the day or night, you can find Spongebob on a channel somewhere? I'm serious.... How do I know this? I have a 3.5 year old who constantly requests to watch it, and after a little bit of flipping around, I can normally find it.

I think it's a conspiracy! ;-)

  3. We don't allow Spongebob. There's nothing WRONG with it...It's just dopey...Yet we do allow Transformers, which has some degree of violence. We can't put our finger on it, but there's something about the show that bugs hubby and me. Luckily, my son WAS allowed to borrow the soundtrack from the library. :-)

  4. I wouldn't call you lazy!

Sponge Bob, just mere mention of his name starts the song playing in my head, thanks a hell of a lot! :)

Have a good one! Headed to Tahoe in a couple days-hoping to find some to be lazy while I am there.

  5. Spongebob is actually kind of funny for adults too. I think especially if you are high. Maybe that is why it is on at all hours.

I am proud of you for letting your son stay home alone for that short trip. I would think that the letting go part is one of hardest parts of parenting.

  8. Oh the dreaded video game curse. It's funny how it can do that to kids! My 7 yr old only recently started playing video games on the Wii...it's the first thing he asks to do in the morning and the last thing he wants to do at night before bed...and ALL the hours in between!

Spongebob...I personally like it for some weird reason but the hubby hates it! Your right though, you can find it just about anywhere or anytime of day...

"Ohhhh...who lives in a pineapple under the sea...Spongbog Squarepants..absorbant and yellow and porus is he..Spongebob Squarpants..if nauticle nonscense be something you wish,Spongebob Squarpants, then drop on the deck and float like a fish..

  10. I can't wait till thegrandson gets older. He will be nine in four weeks, and knows everything now - so I'm not really sure what we are honestly waiting for. At least I don't have to spend all my time entertaining him now - which frees me up to blog and "stuff." Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight.

  11. Shiny Rod - You know it, dude!

The Dish - I was able to catch a cat nap later in the day.

TGG - I know! Buddy's excuse was that "Daddy didn't tell us a time to go to bed." !!!!

3C - I actually love Spongebob myself - there are some VERY funny lines, but seeing the same episodes a million times gets old.

Tamis - Have a great time in Tahoe and don't forget to use the lazy card!

Karen - I think it's funny too! And, yeah, it's hard, but we're trying to let go in baby steps...

Ginger - SB, iCarly, Drake & Josh - you name it and I've seen MORE than my fair share of it! LOL.

MH - Yes, but there's a trade-off with the "attitude" sometimes too. Ugh! :-)

Chandra - both the Evil Twin and I think SB is a hoot!

Ron - Do you think the squirrels are in on it?

themom - I know how you feel. I can't wait until Sissy outgrows the "terrible threes" and moves on to being 4 or 5 or 6 - anything school aged! LOL.

  13. So glad you got off the hook on your Monday grocery shopping. It is sometimes nice to go with someone else and mix up the routine! And there is NOTHING wrong with lazy days...heck I have been having a lot of those lately!

And thank God for Spongebob on all hours of the day lol

  14. You're not lazy, you're tired.

Having kids spread out over such a wide gap means that you have to deal with pretty diverse issues. It's work. It's pleasure, but it's hard work.

My youngest son is 11 and I've had the same thing happen when he has a sleep over. Drives me nuts because they're so 'out-of-sorts' after, and it's hard to re-track their sleep/wake schedules.

Why can't they just stay 8 years old?
    I really liked 8.

  15. I used to love Spongebob. I haven't seen it in ages now because Sugar Bear, at 19, just won't go there with me anymore. But, I did just order seasons one and two of The Squidbillies, so you and TET can be looking forward to full Squidbilly indoctrination. It won't be for Sissy, though. Can't let her get the idea about popping cough drops in her butthole like Granny Squidbilly. That just can't be comfortable ;)
