Tag 2

Over at Attentive Aphorist, themom tagged me on this meme.

Now, this may seem VERY similar to yesterday's meme. But, look carefully at line 3:

The Rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

3 states to write six RANDOM things about (my)self. In yesterdays blog, #3 states to "share six non-important things/habits/quirks about (my)self". Okay, perhaps you could easily interpret them to be the same thing, but they are not. Yesterday, I listed "things/habits/quirks". Today, I will list "random" things.

1. I have a dry scalp. Back in high school and college - my punk grrrl days - I wore a lot of black. I finally realized that walking around with my shoulders coated in what appeared to be a breaded veal cutlet really wasn't all that hot. I do use the dry scalp shampoo, but I also avoid wearing dark shirts.

2. I really, truly do love our home. It's not the Taj Mahal, but it feels safe and it's big enough for all of us to find our own space when needed. We've also done quite a bit of remodeling in the (nearly) five years we've lived here, so I feel comfortable when I look around. The Evil Twin leaves lots of decision making up to me - but that's because he knows I have a tendency to lean towards masculine decor and he knows I'm not about to bust out all "country goose" on him.

3. If I'm interested in something, I can research it to within an inch of its' life. I love research.

4. I've never been big on sweets, but when I was pregnant with Sissy, I bought a bag of Halloween-size Snickers every time I went to the store. I couldn't get enough of them.

5. When I was in college, I had one course I hated. I "borrowed" a paper from a friend - who had received a B on his paper from the same instructor. I changed only the name and a few words and turned it in. I got a C. Proof positive that, sometimes, grading is purely arbitrary. I will hate that teacher until the day I die - not because I got a C, but because her job is to be objective and not grade on feelings. (Update: I know what I did was wrong and it was the only time I did anything like this in my entire "5 year plan" college education - I really wanted to prove a point more than cheat. I wanted to prove she picked favorites. I think I did that).

6. January 15th was the 4th anniversary of the Evil Twin quitting smokes. I'm immensely proud of him for sticking to his guns. I know he still craves the cigs, but he's much stronger than they are! I'll forever be in awe of his willpower. Happy No Cig Anniversary, Honey. :-)

And just like that, *poof* I'm finished.

I'm outta here.

  1. Thank you. I find these give us a better insight into some of our fellow "bloggers" world. I'm right there with you on the "research" issue. One great love of mine. Have a super weekend.

but what made me laugh out loud was

  3. HA! I will never "bust out all country goose" either (gag me).

Congrats to the ET for quitting smoking, I know how very hard it is. I still want one now and then and it has been 30 years since I quit!

That teacher deserves an "F". She should have known it was a second-hand paper.

  4. OK... don't rub it in. I merged the two Meme into one, I didn't read the instructions closely :( Or.... I can attribute it to my bad boy nature. I'm a rule breaker baby! Oh yeah! Congrats to the Evil Twin on a four year anniversary that's one heck of a addiction to kick.

  7. Two years ago it seemed like every garge sale I went to had one of those fugly stone geese for the yard, complete with all the "holiday" outfits for it... There was also a disturbing trend for selling half eaten packs of taco shells or crackers. But anyway.

I totally agree about grading. Since I am (ahem) in the business of grading reports and proposals, among other things, I use turnitin.com. That way I will know if they turned it in not only in my section, but if they used a paper from their buddy in any other section that I do not teach. And yep - I have caught many a plagiarist. I think I would remember most topics, but in your teacher's defense, I have over 100 students each semester as do most profs. After a year or so it becomes less and less likely that you will remember a particular paper. Just sayin'. But a whole grade difference is a bit weird.

  8. Congrats to ET!!!! I've tried - several times - to quit, yet I'm currently smoking about 15 smokes a day. I'm envious of anyone who can quit for good, and hopefully someday I'll be able to find the motivation to do the same...

  9. You and Mona must have similar taste in decorating. I don't think about decorating (Mona almost dumped my early on becuase my house was so devoid of personality) but that country style or the heavily contemporary just bugs me. I'm told that what have is "casual comfort".

When Mona was pregnant she wanted beer and doughnuts. Simultaneously. She actually went out and got some non-alcoholic beer and a pack of those little chocolate dooghnuts and came home and went to town. Weird.

And congrats to the Evil Twin. Smoking is really about the worst thing you can do to your body that won't result in your immediate demise. Seriously. Glad to hear he's doing so well.

And to all of you who are still trying, keep trying. Ask your doctor for help if you need it. Good luck.

  11. themom - thanks for the inspiration.

Clippy Mat - it's just SO not me.

kenju - well, it was a year apart (from him turning it in to me, and she can't remember all of them, but still! I knew she liked him better!)

Ron - I'm really proud of him!

Momma - I know it's a tough one to break the cycle.

Alex - I went to college back in the stone age so there was no way to track the papers... I still feel bad about it.

    SoLow - when you're ready, you'll know...

Jorge - I think we're all about the "casual comfort" too. Just enough, not too much. :-)

    Ginger - Mea culpa! :-)

MsPulp - You know me. Conservative all the way around.

  13. My freshman and sophomore years at WVU I supplemented my income by tutoring people in English, only I wasn't a part of the tutoring program and the students gladly paid me to help them. My brand of tutoring: I would write their paper with them sitting beside me. Then I would teach them the paper in case their prof asked them any questions about the paper. In retrospect, I was plaigerizing too. We're bandits you and I (even though I kept on doing it after the first time...hey, I was poor and all).

  14. I think you got the C because you cheated...you're friend didn't!

  15. FMD - I'll let him know.

BB - You were plagerizing in reverse.

JA - Actually, no. If she had known the paper was "borrowed", I would have gotten much worse than a C. I would have been expelled - along with my friend who loaned it to me. She had no clue.
