It's Almost Free

It's almost free birth control - a 2 and a half year old. Especially one with an attitude. Sissy says, "It's mine." for everything. She says, "No!" quite often. Both of these are routinely displayed with the defiant arms crossed and mean look on face. ("And I mean business!").

I thank my lucky stars that the Evil Twin had the big V in September of 2006. Now, granted - he never did submit a sample afterward for a check, but he also doesn't make deposits at the bank, if you know what I mean. (I'm sorry - I have to update this a bit. Please don't take this as a sign I don't love either of my young'uns. Even when Sissy is in meltdown mode, I look at her and marvel at the amount of love I have in my heart for one small person).

Sissy showed her ass and good at the photo shoot today. It will be a miracle if any of the shots she was in is chosen to be in the magazine.

:::Sigh::: It was that and so much more of the day I can't even get in to. It was crazy ramped up to nucking futz and then some.

I escaped the "stage mom" bug. Yay me. Huzzah.

The good part of my day was dinner. I had decided to do a crock pot BBQ beef on Tuesday. So, on Monday night, I prepped what I could. I had it all in the crock pot and raring to go by just after 7 am.

By 5 pm on Tuesday, we were all starved to bits and dove in. Yum doesn't even begin to cover this one. We all ate ourselves into food comas. In fact, the Evil Twin went to bed before 10 pm.

I stayed up a bit later. I was on a call with Nana M and then had to stick around to jot down my crock pot recipe for the blog here. See, you may be able to call me many names (Cleavage Queen, Barbie Boobs, the Jezebel of the Jugs), but you can't call me a slacker on my blog.

Crockpot Barbecued Beef

1 to 1 1/2 lb. roast, cut in large chunks
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped green peppers
1 (6oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/8 cup cider vinegar
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. dry mustard

Add ingredients to crockpot in order given. Do not stir.

Cover and cook on HIGH for 1 hour. Turn to LOW and cook 8 to 10 hours, or until very tender.

Stir a few times during the last hour. Shred and serve on warmed buns.

  1. LOL.. you said, "warmed buns", ;)

Sissy was difficult at the photo shoot??? I find that hard to believe... I mean unless of course her dressing room didn't have her M&M's sorted by color, Evian water and Animal crackers with only reptiles. Then of course who could blame her for a photo shoot gone wrong.

  2. Nitpicky question, but what cut of roast??

    Sounds good!

  3. Ron - I just copied the recipe verbatim. The buns I served mine on were just regular. LOL.

Janis - I think I bought a top sirloin because they were on sale per pound at Kroger's when I was there Saturday (I also bought a 2.5 lb because that's all I could find and tweaked the spices a bit).

  4. mmmm...sounds yummy. I need to dig my crock pot out and start using it again. It was one of those things that got stored when I was "here" more and could dedicate my stove time!

  5. All this talk about cock pots and bun warming is turning me on.

    Oh, you said crock pots.

    My bad.

  6. Hmmm I may have to pass that one along to the BF. He is a big crock pot fan. Sounds yummy!

And don't worry so much about sounding as if you don't love your kids :) We all have those days. We all know you're a great mom!

  8. Man - it's recipe days in blogland! Yay!

This one also goes on the list of things to try. Loves me some crockpot action.

  9. themom - even if I have stove time, I really like the ease and convenience of the crockpot.

Bucky - LOL. Who knows what I might bring up next, though?

Vinomom - who doesn't love the crockpot? :-) I just hoped I didn't sound too grousy about the kids. Even if they drive me nuts, I still love them to distraction at all times.

wordnerd - this was my first time with this recipe and it was so easy AND good.

Tiff - I still need to venture out and see the other recipes. :-) I'm always looking for inspiration.

  10. What I would have given to see Sissy "show her ass and good" - don'tcha just love that?? My kids are 12 1/2 and 14 and STILL show their asses and good - frequently!!!

  11. What?!? Is there someting in the air today? You just described my day to a tee. They are just darling aren't they?
I had little Miss in the doctor's office getting a new cast (after having pulled the insides out of the old one) while little Mr. was completely destroying the doctor's office. I could have just crawled under the table...
It's amazing how resilient we've become!

  12. We all know Sissy's a star. We don't need the rest of the world lining up behind us to ooh and ahh at her wunnerfulness. She knows a small but loyal following always gives better love than the masses.

    Where's my crock pot?

  13. Two year olds are free birth control. Totally. But we love the anyway.

  14. Momma - it's a regular occurrence here too. I just take a deep breath. LOL.

MsPulp - I can't even count how many times I wanted to slither under a table in the last 10 years. It's definitely... interesting. :-)

BB - That Sissy is smarter than she looks! And your crock pot is most likely in your lower cupboard, near your other pots n pans.

Inanna - Well, I do have to buy her food and clothing, so that's why she's *almost* free. LOL. But, yes, we love them anyway. Puppies, kittens and two year olds: Is there anything cuter?

  15. Oh, man. I just read this, and I am now REALLY hungry.

    And it's 10.23 pm.

    CRAP.

I'm printing this recipe for weekend use.

    THANKS!
