It's the first day of school here and finally, both of my children are in full day, all week school. Buddy has been for many years, but for Sissy, pre-school was only a few hours. And usually just Monday thru Thursday. It's MY first day of freedom in almost 6 years.
Today got off to a rocky start. Buddy couldn't find his backpack from last year - I've ordered both children new backpacks from Land's End, but in typical ETW fashion, I waited 'til the last minute. They should arrive by Monday, I think.
Meanwhile, I scoured the house for the elusive backpack. I know we didn't throw it away. It's around here somewhere. We told Buddy that he had a binder with pencils and such and that was probably all he would need for today.
It was just piss poor planning on everyone's part that we didn't have it more together this morning.
When the Evil Twin was getting ready for his shower, he said: "You know what you need to do today?" and I braced myself for the five foot long "to do" list, but he continued. "This is your first day off in nearly 6 years. Enjoy it. Do nothing. You never get a break and you deserve it."
How sweet is that? Yeah, he gets on my nerves sometimes - and I know I drive him crazy most of the time, but we try to be mindful of each others needs. Being married is not always a fairy tale story - often, it's a lot of work. But, somehow, you just muddle through. :-)
Have a wonderful Friday, hooligans!
