I Be Illin'!

I woke up yesterday morning and my throat was on FIRE! It hurt like a mofo and my sinuses were all backed up. I used some throat spray and took some medicine.

Then, I forced myself to get to the grocery. I'm glad I did because the snow dumped down on us in a sneaky fashion overnight. School is canceled, so Buddy is home. There is no way I would be getting out in this mess today.

The Evil Twin didn't have a choice. He is working on a very important project at work and it needs to be finalized today.

I woke up this morning still feeling craptastic, but at least my throat isn't trying to spontaneously combust. I took my temperature: 100.2, so not too bad. It's probably just the creeping crud and not the flu (thank goodness!).

I feel like this:

I will get out of my robe at some point today, but really, who knows? I'm not a morning person on my best of days. Plus, I woke up at 3 am - I had to use the restroom and when I got back in bed, I wasn't able to fall back to sleep, so I tossed and turned until Sissy woke up.

I tried to keep her in bed with me, but she wasn't really having any of that. So, I thought "Whisky Tango Foxtrot???" and lugged my sorry sick ass out of bed.

I think I'll get in the shower just so I don't have to hear the kids' fussing around for a bit. I've raided the medicine chest and picked my assorted poisons today, so maybe I'll be so out of it, I won't notice the screaming, crying and fighting (or maybe I'll be the one screaming, crying and fighting....) You just never know!

  1. Nice use of phoenetics!!! The Marine in me hates it when people say something like Walter Tim Frank... I'm impressed, ETW!

  4. Maybe if you give the kids a shot of NyQuil each and let them sleep for a while you can get some more rest too. ;-)

  9. SoLow - You know you military types totally float my boat!

Ron - I know! I could have used him here at home, too. :-(

Gigi - Sometimes these things have a way of lingering, don't they? Ugh!

Jay - Great idea, in theory, but they both know that medicine tastes like crap, so neither would fall for it! LOL.

Karen - I guess 'tis the season! Yuck.

NCP - I wonder. But, I'm too loopy on meds right now to find out! LOL.

Elle - Thanks! I do slouch around in a robe, though! Hee hee.

Lisha - I'm glad you guys are on the mend. I have to laugh, otherwise, I'd be in a rubber room somewhere!

  16. Bummer...I hope you feel better soon.

On the bright side, if you lock yourself in the bathroom for a shower, you get a double benefit. A break from crazy kiddos and the steam will help your sinus congestion.

  19. Take it easy until you're SURE you're better. That crap has a way of sneaking back around the corner and hitting you from behind, time after time.

  20. I know this sounds crazy, but the last time I had a sore throat, a friend told me to gargle with peroxide and water. Amazingly, it worked!

  27. I have not had one nasty cold in about a year. Every morning, I wash down vitamins and some select minerals with an activia light immune-booster smoothie. It seems to be doing the trick! (And I work in a hotel, and if I haven't picked up anything from that viral incubator, then I'm doing something right!
