Chasing My Tail

I feel like I am always so far behind these days.

If I don't make it to your place today - or any other day - please forgive me.

I spend a good portion of my days going to the bathroom with Sissy. While I am tremendously proud of her and her ability to use the potty ALL the time, she has to go A LOT.

I'm not sure why. She doesn't drink an inordinate amount of liquids. But, we're back and forth several times a day.

She is also at an age where I must do everything for her - fetch foods, drinks, get her dressed, etc. Add that to my ordinary daily chores and that adds up to my days being VERY busy.

I hope all this running around will help me lose a few more pounds before our trip in May. :-)

And, there's that - the trip that I'm obsessing over... If I can just make it to summer break, in early June, I think I can finally get caught up. I think. :::Sigh:::

Ok, I'm having lunch with a friend today, so I'll be out a bit. That should be fun. Even though it is rainy and dreary here - at least it's not freezing cold too. Just a little on the cooler side.

Plus, I'll get a yummy lunch and great company. :-)

It's all good.

(and I know all to well about the potty thing. Who knew that their bladders could hold so much for such little people!)

  4. Yay Sissy!!

Don't worry about getting caught up. It doesn't last. :)

  5. Tiff's right. Being caught up never lasts for me either. That down time of rest earned by getting caught up ends up leaving me with a bunch of new stuff to do that cropped up while I was deservedly down.

    Have a yummeh lunch!

  6. I remember that feeling. Sometimes you have to step back, and reevaluate what you are still doing for the wee ones, and what they could be doing on their own (some jump at the chance to be independent, some need some coaxing). I am horrible about that...it usually takes other people to point out that my eight year old can put toothpaste on his own brush, or that my ten year old is capable of doing PB and J's.

I think the potty thing is because she has a 2.5 ounce bladder still, and she is gaining more confidence but still likes the encouragement you give her. Part of the whole dance.

  7. There's nothing like learning a new skill to make you want to do it all the time. Just wait until she's older and there's other things she wants to work on. Like learning to drive!

  11. gosh, if I could get someone to bring me food and drinks when I am on the toilet too...wait, I bet that's not what you are talking about is it?

    Anyhow, have a good lunch!

  12. I found the whole potty training bittersweat. On one hand they were finally big enough to be able to do it themselves. It also seemed like one more strand in the vital importance to Mom was severed.

But when they get sick, they always want Mom then!

I hope your afternoon out is a lovely distraction from everything else you have going on.

  15. She may not so much "need" to go as like the fact that she can. I remember when my son was first fully potty trained, he would want to go to the bathroom about 6 times during 15 minutes at bedtime. He would always manage to go a little. Hubby would get frustrated because I kept taking him to the bathroom, because he was putting off bedtime. I told him he would out grow it, and I certainly wasn't going to tell him no and then have him have an accident. Sure enough, he outgrew it, and it was all fine. :)

  18. I am glad you were getting out and having some adult time! That's important - I remember those potty training days. I think they're so fascinated with the potty they just go all the time so they can go....

  20. Oh YAY for grown up lunches and grown up conversations!!
So pleased to hear that Sissy is doing well with her potty training. I drank alot of Martini's when our kiddo's were being "party trained" as my youngest daughter used to say. I know, sometimes they go a million times it seems regardless of how much liquid they drink. I think they are just learning to feel that gotta go sensation and go a little overboard with it sometimes.
    I potty tranied 4........it get's better :)

  21. I am a little jealous right now. I am going through this really weird stage right now where I've realized Haley is so independent that when we don't have anything going on in the evenings I'm kinda like, "now what?" I sorta miss the days when she WAS dependent on me like Sissy. Sorta. Like a tiny tiny bit. Ok, not really, but it was a fun thought.
