Sunday Ramblings

I used my new KitchenAid mixer yesterday for the first time. I made a pound cake that I have made before (without benefit of the beloved mixer action) and it's a super easy recipe. Let's just say it got even easier with my mixer! Squee! The Evil Twin declared it as good, if not better, than a store bought pound cake. I thought, "You better mean it is highly superior, there, Mister!"

You should have seen him ogling that mixer while I was doing the pound cake. I think he's as in love with it as I am. You have to admit, it's a functional work of art.

Anyway, we had friends over last night and the Evil Twin made his delicious chili. We had that and 2 loaves of french bread. For dessert, we had my extraordinary pound cake and a store bought apple pie that the Evil Twin had picked up when he went to get the chili ingredients.

Today has been so nice. The very epitome of how a Sunday should be. Football, leftover chili, snacking and napping. Fall is officially here, I suppose. It's getting cooler outside, but our windows have really made a difference in the amount of heat or AC we have had to run in the past.

The whole "fall back" thing has me confuzzled, as usual. It'll take me a good week to get adjusted. I hope everyone has had a nice weekend and is looking forward to a good week!!

Til tomorrow, I am your humble hausfrau.

  3. Mmmmm, chili.

Hey - that mixer is GREAT for kneading bread dough. Give it a shot, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

  6. Mmmmmm.... Pound Cake. Why is it that they call it a pound cake, but if you eat the whole thing you gain more than a pound? Seems like false advertising.

  7. I am in love with the mixer too! I have a killer recipe for pound cake that I need to dig out. I haven't seen it since the dieting years set in.

I wonder how small a pound cake 100-calorie snack would be? The 100-calorie carrot cake is three quarter-sized 1/4-inch high carrot-cake-like sponges that appear to have brushed up against some icing. They taste as delicious as they sound. ;)
