Procrastinating

I totally blew off my normal Monday shopping yesterday. It probably helped that I had gone shopping on Friday of last week, so didn't need much.

I generally gather all of the Evil Twin's lunch stuff ahead of time, so that is in place. Then, all I have to do in the morning is just put it all together. It doesn't take much time - I have the routine down. But, I would NEVER make his lunch the night before because then it would be all hard and yucky the next morning. I try to provide a decent lunch. I know it's gotta suck eating a lunch from home everyday when all the other co-workers eat out every day, but we just can't afford a 5 day a week bill of lunches taken out of the office.

And, it doesn't matter if it's fast food or sit down style. The Evil Twin can order up an easy $7 to $10 lunch on fast food just for himself.

That is why we try to avoid that expense. One lunch out per week has been okay so far.

I even blew off my normal "night before" preparation.

But, lunch is ready and I am up.

I think our thermostat got fried by the thunderstorm we had yesterday evening.

Guess I'll replace that when I go shopping today. Lord only knows who I will find to install it. We really don't have the money to pay anyone.

As you can tell, today is not a good day for me.

I'll get over it, just like I always do and just keep going.

Remember to enter the Avon giveaway.... There aren't many entries so far, so you'd have a good chance of winning - and hey, free is free, right? I love winning stuff. :-)

  1. We do make sandwiches the night before, for both hubby and me. I don't think they taste any worse. Since we use homemade wheat bread and usually have PB&J, the jelly actually seems to make the bread a bit softer. :-)

  2. Even with procrastinating, I think it's adorable that you make his lunch everyday.

One of the guys I work with, his wife packs his lunch every single day. I think it is the sweetest thing ever.

  3. You're like me: I always "get over it and keep on going".

  4. I make the husband his lunch every day, too. ALL the people in his office eat out and he is the only one that uses the microwave. How do they afford that?! I do the sandwich that morning as well. It would get mushy made the night before. On better days I just send leftovers from dinner. That is always easier.

I hope your day gets better. If not better, I hope there is a big drink at the end of it.

  5. OH how I have slacked on the grocery shopping the last couple weeks. I needed to go Sunday but it was playground raising day so I missed out and Monday I had 4 kids (yep, not happening) and then today I have 4 kids. lol. So hopefully I get there tonight cuz Hubby needs lunches as well. The rest of us are living out of the pantry...whatever we can find!! I do not know how people afford to eat lunch out everyday..or maybe they aren't...looks can be deceiving...they probably have maxed out credit cards to McDonalds and Burger King lol.

  7. My minds on money today too cuz I am broke! And the outdoor AC went out at my rental last night so that has to be fixed. I have a friend that will do it, but it's still not free. Hope your day gets better.

  8. 3C - if it were PB&J that would probably work, but he likes just one slice of cheese and lunch meat. Can you say "Dry?" LOL.

M - We always say I "lovingly pack it." But, in reality, I'm stumbling around half awake. LOL.

kenju - I kinda always figured that was the female "lot in life" ya know?

    A. - I don't know how people afford it either. Even fast food can get pricey!

Lisha - Can you imagine charging a fast food lunch? LOL.

Gigi - Thanks. I'm already feeling like once I get a shower, things will look up.

Vinomom - Thanks...I'm hoping this is an easy (read: cheap) fix. :::sigh::::

  9. The thermostat is supposedly an easy replacement at least. And, I agree with the others. How can people afford those lunches out every day? That's nuts!

  10. I bet you could do the thermostat replacement. Check Google and see if there's a "How To" for it!

I think it's so cute that you make his lunch. So cute!

    Have a great day!

  11. I was gonna leave a comment, but then I thought about it and decided I would just do it later....

  12. Hubby prefers his sandwiches with no condiments, too. Yuck. Often no cheese, either. Who skips the cheese?

  13. Hey! You can do that thermostat replacement yourself - really! It's pretty darn simple. Even *I* managed when husband decided he didn't want to read the instructions!

  14. Since I have been putting for the effort to bring my lunch to work, I absolutely love it. It is so much better than the expensive crap I was buying before. I generally do leftovers. I am not a big sandwich person. I like a sub, but I can't replicate that from home.

You are right that it isn't much work once you get the routine down.

  15. Thermostats are pretty easy to replace....as 'Cute' said above...just google 'how to etc', you'll be pleasently surprised :)

    Hmm....guess you're still really 'busy' ;)

  16. Will you go to the store for me too? I really don't want to go. But will probably wait til Friday.

I try to bring lunch to work to save the expense of eating out. When i cook I usually make sure that there are lots of leftovers. But how many meals in a row can I eat porkchops? That is why I am having McDonald's today! ;)

  17. That's nice that you pack ET's lunch everyday.
Even when I worked like a mad woman I packed really great lunches for my kids every single day. I'm fussy about what they eat.
The husband however tends to go out for greasy cheese-burgers a lot, it's a construction thing. But if he wanders into the yard I whip something healthy and tasty up for him.
That or we just go for the 'hot lunch' and he goes away perfectly happy ; )
I admire how you practice frugality, you seem very efficient and capable.

  18. I used to pack everyone's lunch. But then he would bring it home uneaten and it would get wasted. So why bother.

  19. Everyday!? I wish you had married me! I do tend to take leftovers to save money and calories. My daughter has to bring lunch this first week of camp and I found myself stumbling around this morning as well. I hope she likes mustard on her tuna, :-)

  20. Good luck with the thermostat. From the sound of it, it won't be too hard for a smartypants like you. :)

  21. J packs a little cooler of beverages for the day's work. He gets on kicks where he packs for a week, then lays off for a while. He gets tired of the cafe food at work and then gets tired of his packed lunch. I let him pack it daily, but I sometimes sneak little notes in it just for a little surprise!

    Fell better, mama!

  22. i always try to get my lunch ready the night before, because there is no way in HELL i'll be able to get to it before i leave for work in the morning..

  23. If it is hot maybe it is better to just leave the thermostat alone and let the air run!!!! but then there is the utility bill thing.....

  25. You're a good lil' wife, but sometimes...it's just too much to keep in step with the regularly scheduled programming!

In case you didn't know, lunches from home are the new black. I said so. This comes from the woman who ate half a pork chop while holding the bone through a plastic bag today because she was too lazy to get a fork.

  26. YOu win the world's best wife award for fixing ET lunch everyday - that is so kind!!!

Bummer on the thermostat. I hope it gets replaced easily - and that your day improves!!

    XOXOXO

  28. Hope you get to feeling chipper soon. :)

Lunch -- I go 1/2 way. In my home I cook dinner almost every evening. I cook enough to have food for lunch the next day. Everyone here fends for themselves.

  29. ...just keep going... that's what I am doing today too. I have the food in the house, just the lack of motivation to get it together. hopefully tomorrow morning is better ;~)

oh and I am with you... packing the lunch is better.... $$ wise and healthwise!
