Brought To You By The Letter F

And, that stands for Folding Fitted sheets!

Here's a YouTube video I found and this guy uses a technique that is nearly identical to mine:

It's only a couple of minutes long. Watch it and learn. It's SO easy!

I've found it's easier to do on larger sheets (IOW, crib sheets are difficult), but just employ the main technique of gathering those corners together, smoothing as you go, making it all a perfect rectangle and you'll be folding beautiful fitted sheets before you know it!

  1. I never knew they could be folded. Or should be?

Although he does make it look easy.

  2. It's a miracle! And I bet he can make quiche, too.

  3. You're supposed to fold them? Who knew?

They generally go right back on the bed after they're washed in my house...

  4. My husbands philosophy on that is, "why fold when you can wad"

    Drives me nutz!

  5. My wife is trying to convert me to this method though I still prefer the old "wad and shove" method...

  6. But, if I fold the sheets how do I put them back on my bed? LOL ;-)

  7. Barry - Of course, they should be folded. Neatly! ;-)

Hogday - I can fold the sheet, but can't make a quiche....

CuteElla - I have several sets for each bed, so they do have to be folded and rotated.

    Ron - LOL!

Carolyn - Now, there are no excuses to wad!

Warren - If you do the wad n shove, then when they're back on the bed, they're all wrinkly! No!

Jay - Unfold the same way you folded! ;-)

Loni - Doesn't that look nice?

  8. I thought that fitted sheets were just balled up and stuffed onto a shelf in the linen closet. Silly me!

  9. You and Martha....very precise and neat with sheets......I'm with Dave....with the exception that I kinda fold them but not exactly.

  10. This is exactly why I have one set of sheets and they are washed and put back on the bed. When they wear out, I'll buy new sheets. I do not fold things that are clearly designed to foil all reasonable attempts at folding.

Having said that - my mom can fold a fitted sheet and you wouldn't even know it was anything but a crisp square or material.

This is a woman who used to iron the sheets, though...

  11. Learn something new every day - thanks ETW! ;)

  12. I do it just like that, except I hold them in the air, not lay them on the bed. He's cheating!! I don't lay them down until I have all 4 corners together.

  13. Roll and stuff, roll and stuff.....argh

  14. Kenju and I are much alike in this regard. I had no idea I was 'ding it right' (by and large) all this time).

A well-folded fitted sheet is a happy sheet.

  15. I hate folding these things, but that was because I did not know the PROPER way. Now I do! Thanks for sharing.

  16. Hmmm, maybe I will actually TRY to fold them next time. I like to roll them into a ball, it doesn't take me 2:25 minutes! :)

  17. I am with no celery--I strip the bed wash and replace. That way I do not have to fold. It really sucks though at bedtime when I realize my sheets aren't dry yet. It becomes hurry up and wait then.

    Happy Monday!

  18. that is great - thanks for sharing! seriously - youtube has a video for everything! p.s. - typing while holding a newborn is tricky!!

  19. That's the way I have been folding them for over 40 years. So simple and I love when everything looks neat in the linen closet.

  20. I 'almost' fold them that way. "Neat sheets" suddenly make sense!

  21. Dave - Fold them neatly, so there won't be wrinkles later! ;-)

rosemary - I just can't stand a messy linen closet! LOL.

NCP - We have several sets for each bed and for the seasons, so I often have to fold sets to put away.

    TGG - You're welcome!

Kenju - I'm kind of a cheater too, then. LOL.

Michelle - No more wads with this method! :-)

Tiff - I agree! And it makes for a happy linen closet too. :-)

Mary - Your life will be so much easier now! :-)

Susan - Once you get the hang of it, it only takes about a minute (or less). ;-)

Tamis - See? Another reason to have several sets for each bed. Something is always clean and ready to go!

Gigi - Show the vid to your husband. He can be doing the fitted sheets for now!

    themom - I couldn't agree more!

Renn - And now, there is no more confusion over getting tidy squares!

  22. Ok... because of your folding fitted sheets video, I ended watching "how to fold a thong"... I will never be the same.

  23. That is "F" en awesome!! lol. I usually do a nice roll type of fold lmao. Thanks for the great video!! Isn't it amazing what you can learn off youtube??

  24. My mother-in-law taught me this technique. I still roll it up into a ball and give it a heave-ho into the top of the closet and try not to think about it. Denial. That's how I fold fitted sheets.

  25. LOVE neat and tidy. Thanks!xx♥

  26. I knew a girl in college who ironed her towels and wash cloths...I don't know if she irons sheets too...

  27. Thank goodness I've been doing this right all of these years! The real trick though is getting it the same size (for storage in your closet) as the flat sheet. Ha! I can do that too!

  28. well....that was a perfect waste of 3 minutes in my life. Actually, that was pretty awesome...but very OCD
