Home Again, Home Again

The Evil Twin drove ALL day - from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM on Saturday to get us home in one day. And, I'm so happy to be home! It's nice to be back to our own home and our own beds and our own kitchen, etc.

We totally relied on the loaner GPS from JFab for the trip home and it was AWESOME! (thanks again, sweetie!).

I thought I had typed up something for Friday morning, but I guess the fact that my feet were killing me and I had some sleep deprivation going on there toward the end, I must have just hallucinated that bit.

As I said in the Animal Kingdom post, we went to the Magic Kingdom for a bit Friday morning, had lunch there and went back to our resort. We then took the ferry to Downtown Disney and grabbed a bus from there to the Wilderness Lodge resort. That's where we had dinner that evening (Whispering Canyon Cafe), then took the bus back to Downtown Disney, shopped a bit, then took the ferry back to Riverside.

So, our last full day of Disney was fun. It was all very exhausting though. And, they apparently are experiencing record high temps this year, so every day was hot. I don't mind the hot, but you mix that in with just wall to wall bodies (people) and it gets uncomfortable fast.

From what I've heard from others who have been there this time of year in previous years, the crowds were about the average. To me, I thought it was too crowded. Then again, I'm not a "crowd" type of person.

About the whole ordeal, I will just say this: Been there, done that, didn't buy the T-Shirt (although the Evil Twin and each child did get a shirt - I don't wear logo type clothing).

I brought home a sinus infection. Those hotel air conditioning units really wreak havoc with my sinuses. Luckily, I have an appointment to see my primary care doctor on Tuesday - I made the appointment months ago, as a follow up appointment, so hopefully, I'll leave there with a prescription for antibiotics.

I spent my Mother's Day doing laundry and emptying suitcases, getting everything back in order. You know how it goes...

I have my yearly "female" check up at 11 am today, my primary care physician appointment at 11 am tomorrow and Wednesday, I plan to just REST. The Evil Twin took both Monday and Tuesday off work, so he'll be here to hang out with Sissy while I see two-thirds of my main physicians. We also need to pick up our mail that I had held at the PO while we were away.

Now, I'm on to catch up to ALL my faithful commenters and favorite blogs....I promise I will check in with each and every one of you over the next two days!

It's SO good to be home! :-)

And, one more thing: a belated Happy Mother's Day to all my readers. Whether you are the mom of two legged critters or four legged critters or both, I hope you enjoyed your day!

  1. its always so good to be home xx

  2. Great to go away........wonderful to come home, no?
Hey, I hope you took a snapshot of the "girls" on vacation as's only fair you know??
Hope the female parts are all good :)

    Steday On
    Reggie Girl

  3. Welcome home....good to have you back!

  4. Yay! Glad you're back, safe and sound. Vacations can be more exhausting than relaxing sometimes. Wanna go to the beach with me and Mimi next week??? :)

  5. I always loved coming home from vacations but hated all the "catching up" I had to do once we were back.

  6. Welcome home! Have fun being poked and prodded at the doctors. I usually have to pay extra for that.

  7. Welcome home. Happy Mother's day too you!

  8. I am always so glad to be home after vacation. Missed you !(meaning, I didn't like having one less comment on my blog this week)

  9. Lisa - It is nice!

    Natalie - Thanks!

Reggie - No, the girls were too busy during vacation to pause for a pic! LOL.

JA - I'm glad to be home, too!

Elle - If I could get away by myself, I would. :-)

Ginger - I know... too much to catch up on!

    Ron - Oh, I'll have a blast this morning, I'm sure. :-)

    TGG - Me too!

    Karen - Thanks!:-)

Vinomom - I'm catching up on blogs as we speak. :-)

  10. Sounds like you need a vacation from your vacation and box o' hooch! Welcome home, dear. Hope to catch up with you soon.

  11. My sister has one of those GPS thingies in her car. She got lost last time I was up there visiting her, so she set it up to figure out how to get home. Once she got going in the right direction she decided to take a different route back to the house. It kept scolding her for being "off route." I thought that was pretty funny.

Part of me would love to go to Disney World and part of me knows I would hate the crowds.

  12. Glad you're home safe and sound.
Fun is a lot of work sometimes, yes?

  13. So happy you all are home safely - there's no place like home!!!

Happy Belated Mother's Day - You Rock!

  14. Welcome back...I guess my postcard got lost in the mail. Of course, everything is more expensive to mail now. Anyhow, glad you survived the madness!

  15. Inanna - I bought a fresh box o hooch today. :-)

Jay - We got the biggest kick out of it when we stopped for gas or potty breaks and it would say "Recalculating" over and over. LOL. And yeah, you'd hate the crowds. I had to double up on Ativan (anti-anxiety meds) to deal with it. LOL.

Powdergirl - It was fun, but it was work!

Momma - You rock, too! Hope your Mother's Day was great!

Warren - Madness is an apt description. I'm glad I came through unscathed too (well, maybe hating humanity a little bit more than before...)

  16. Guess what? I was at Downtown Disney on Friday night, too! We saw Circque Du Soleil and walked around and got a drink and hung around watching the guy from the magic store doing tricks.

It would have been so funny to run into you!

  17. Sorry you ended up with a sinus infection. It's so odd but every year when I travel home to Maine, I always suffer with my sinus' for a couple days and then for a couple of days after we get home.
I hope your check ups go well and you're feeling better soon.

  18. I am so glad that you had fun! And as others have said, I know just what you mean about how nice it is to be home...

  19. Ah - your own bed. You totally deserve a day to yourself after your big adventure!

  20. So, you survived Disney! Excellent.
Glad you are home safe and sound

  21. Welcome back and Happy belated Mother's Day!

Good lord this medicine is strong. I totally forgot you were going to blog while away, so now I've got a heap of catching up to do!

I'm the same as you on crowds. I'm not huge on theme parks for that reason. It's gotta be something really special (like something for Sugar Bear or something Joe Perry) to tempt me off to one.

I wish I'd known you are also plagued with the hotel visit sinus goop. There's this tiny little spray bottle of stuff called Ozium that Rite Aid carries in their little car section. It's actually stuff that hospitals use to clean the air because it somehow works like setting off little bacteria and stink eating PacMen off into the air. Just two squirts will do a room. Do not squirt when anyone else is in the room. Squirt away from yourself or any living thing because it will suck the wind right out of you if you don't. I usually do my squirts, hop back into the hall, wait a couple of minutes, and walk into a fresh-smelling room that doesn't leave my sinuses so bad.

I only found this out because it's popular for killing the smell of know, the kind that might bring a civil servant to your door. Been using it ever since (when I remember to take it as there will be no reason to worry about civil servants anymore).

  22. Glad you're home. I did 4 loads of laundry on Mother's Day myself. Fun times. Have a great week!

  23. Happy Mother's Day! I hope that you had a good one... even if it was filled with chores ;~)

  24. Welcome home! Glad you had a good trip. Happy Mother's Day!

  25. I am so glad you made it home safely. Vacations are great, and it makes you appreciate being home that much more :)

Happy belated Mother's day to you as well. As you saw, I was cleaning puke and doing laundry. It never fails.

    Hope you feel better soon!
