Ready for Normal

I am SO ready to get my house back in order. I know, I know. I chose to do this stuff, so I really don't have room to complain and I'm not really complaining as much as expressing my desire for it to be over already.

The stress of shuffling items around while one area gets "treatment" is very high. The stress of spending money has reached critical mass.

The one bright spot of the day was that I was able to get the kids out of the house and we were able to visit our pool for the first time. We belong to a pool about half a mile up the street and it's nice. We've been there for 4 summers now and we see the same people year after year, so that is great, too. It's always strange to see how much their kids have grown in a school year.

At first, Sissy was not real keen on getting in the baby pool, so I let her sit on the edge with her toes in the water. There were two other little girls (4 years old) who were trying to encourage her to get in and handing her toys. They were so cute.

Finally, after about a half hour of toe dangling, I picked her up and put her back in the water - on her feet, so she wasn't in very deep. And, just like that, she was okay with it. She walked all around the baby pool, picking up toys. She took two face plants and that was hysteria, of course, but she calmed down quickly. We only stayed about an hour and a half, much to Buddy's dismay.

Sissy is very fair and has reddish hair, so I ran around after her the whole time, smearing SPF 45 on her. She still got a little sun on her shoulders, but not much. Maybe we need a higher SPF for her little Caspar self.

I don't use tanning lotion or SPF, so I got a bit of sun myself. Yay. I have to work on my free tan this summer since I don't have time for the tanning beds (I know - bad, bad, bad me!). I have tried all the tan in a can options and no matter what their claim (no streaking! easy to apply! no orange tint!), it still looks like I'm just dirty.

It's after 9 pm and I still have work to do, so I must end this here. Perhaps I'll have some more "after" photos for you soon! :-)

  1. Here's to summer breaks and swimming pools!

Go for SPF 50, but use the cream. The spray doesn't stay on when you hit the pool.

  2. Pools look so refreshing, so blue, so cooling.....I can't swim so I would have been in the baby pool right next to Sissy. After pics are good.

  3. We haven't made it to our pool yet this year. It's supposed to be ridiculous hot later in the week, as opposed to really hot like it has been the last month.

We may finally get over there this weekend.

Can't wait to see some after photos.

  5. inspire us with the after photos!

Also - yay for pools. In NC we've been in the pool since the end of april, but only lately has it been totally summery enough to really make that pool inviting. Love it.
