Why??

Sorry I didn't update yesterday - It was WV Day - WV has it's birthday on Sunday, so some employees had Monday off, like the Evil Twin.

When we have those long weekends, I sometimes forget it's an actual weekday! My bad.

Anypoodle, I am really in love with a certain lipstick. I'm the type who likes to mix it up on colors every now and then, but if I find a product I like I will buy that product in several shades.

This was the case with Max Factor Lipfinity 3D:

I started noticing a few months ago that, where ever I shopped, I couldn't find ANY Max Factor products. Finally, I found some at the Mart of Wal on an end cap of discontinued sale items. I asked the clerk who was stocking other make up what the deal was and she told me that Max Factor would no longer be sold in the US. Only in Europe.

Apparently, their market share here wasn't worth sticking around. They are owned by Proctor and Gamble, which also has the Cover Girl line, so I scoured that section to see if I could find a similar lip product. I bought something that "looked" similar, but is just awful. It's all gritty and sticky.

I feel like I'm wearing Vaseline with cat litter on my lips. YUCK!

That will NOT do.

So, I've been scouring the interwebs and I actually found several eBay auctions with my beloved lipstick (sealed and unused, of course). I'm wondering if I should just pull the trigger and buy several for the future or if I'll have to become super buddy-buddy with someone across the pond to feed my addiction?

Maybe I just need to find a new favorite. :::Le sigh:::

Why is it that every time I find something, like a beauty product, that I love - then the company somehow senses my desires and takes it off the market???

Maybe it's my breath....

  2. Oh, I have so been there.

Back in the day when Sears had their own brand of makeup. They had one particular color (Tea Rose) and it was my absolute all time favorite. I have found colors close, but never the same :(

  3. For years I have used a lip gloss by Avon in the shade of Chocolate Fling. Then they discontinued it. And I was devastated. A friend's mom happens to work in Avon's corporate office and she was able to get me 14 tubes. I store them in the crisper of the fridge. I might die when it runs out. I feel your pain.

  4. That happened to me about 10 years ago. There was a certain type of liquid foundation that was absolutely perfect for me. The color and texture were PERFECT. That never happens. Then they discontinued it :-( I bought the last of them and when they were gone I was SOL. Good luck finding more of your lipstick.

  5. I really need to know how it is the you know the feeling of vaseline and cat litter on your lips ?

    LOL.

I HATE when they discontinue my favorite products!

  6. Do they have an on-line store? If not they definately should. I hate cover girl lipstick/gloss especially those that are supposed to stay on all day - feels like my lips are glued together.

  7. Nope...If you recall some of my posts on Facebook not too long ago, that is one of my laws. The Law of Availability I believe it was....

  8. I've never been a fan of any manner of face paint on ladies, but if it makes the ladies happy, or less pissed off; what's not to like!

But that's not what I came here to talk about...

What I want to know is this:
Are ET and ETsW on the Fisher Ridge Winery mailing list?

SkullyWV with the verizon.com email addy wants to know if you'd like to be.

  9. I switched from lip stick to lip gloss (Avon, of course) a few months ago, and I can't imagine switching back. Avon glazewear is great, in my opinion.

Good luck finding a new brand for you!

  10. Dana - or be shipped overseas??? LOL.

Cara - It stinks to be dissed by the cosmetic world!

Karen - Maybe before you run out, they'll re-introduce it! :-)

Mrs. D - If it's selling, why can't they continue to SELL it???

Powdergirl - that's what I imagine it feels like. Ewwww.

Chick - no online store. I'll have to resort to eBay, I guess.

Joker - I didn't see that one, I'll have to go back and check for it. :-)

Skully - in my avatar, I'm wearing the full face products, but I think it looks minimal. LOL. And no, we're not on the FR mailing list, but I've toured there before and used to know the owners.

3C - I'll have to check your Avon page...I lost all my links in a recent computer issue, can you email it to me?

  11. You need to buy out the stores and have several skids of lipstick and you will have to decide if an event is "lipstick" worthy.

  12. Oh my memories of a not to long ago Dasani grape flavored water. It was the only water I ever loved, there was no aftertaste. It began to go away and be replaced with Essence water which took some getting used to but was good as well. Now both are gone DAMMIT!

  13. I feel like they do the same thing to tv shows that I like!

Buy a few back-ups off ebay and then experiment til you find a new one I like as a back up.

  14. I have a weird obbsession with lipgloss...not really a fan of lipsticks, but Victoria Secret lip glosses work pretty good, you just have to avoid the ones with glitter because those are the ones that give the 'cat litter' effect. Otherwise, there is a Mabelline (possibly Cover Girl, sorry) called Lipslicks...hopefully that's not the same one, but I remember I used to buy and I love it, it was very smooth, and they have various shades.

Now I'm just usin' SoftLips gloss, the vanilla smells sooo awesome.

  15. I have definitely used ebay to stock up on things like that before! Go for it!

  16. I hate that! I takes me forever and some serious cash (because I try so many and they look awful)to find lipgloss/stick I like then it gets discontinued and I have to start the whole process all over again.

  17. Ron - That's the problem. All events are lipstick worthy! )

Raquel - Why do these companies DO this stuff? Argh!

Vinomom - Yeah, I bookmarked the eBay page...LOL.

Brittany - I'll look for the lipslicks. Thanks!

    Debbie - I think that's what I'll do! :-)

MysteryChick - I know! None of that stuff is cheap!

  18. I use Cover Girl and I only had one color that was gritty. The newer ones aren't that way.

  19. "It was WV Day"

Wow! I didn't know what day Word Verification was born on! Blogspot and Google must be very proud. June 21st is also my sister's birthday but that's going to play second fiddle to WV day from now on.
