Random Thoughts on a Thursday Morning

I have all sorts of random flotsam floating through my brain this morning and thought that might make an interesting blog. I mean, who doesn't like random, ya know?

1. I am super excited about this weekend and next weekend. Buzzardbilly and I and a few other friends (whoever we can talk into it) are going to see the movie "Paranormal Activity" this Sunday and then next Saturday night, there's a drag show downtown. It'll be one of my first "Girl's Night Out" expedition in a VERY long time. And let me add, hanging out with the BB is always a good time!

2. Buddy's home room teacher had said that if a student brought in a box of tissues, they'd get an extra credit point. When I was at the Mart of Wal yesterday (emergency run...), I saw a three pack of Puffs on sale, so I threw 'em in the cart. I left them in the bag and set it next to his backpack. I even saw him holding the bag at some point this morning. After he and the Evil Twin left, I turned around to see the bag on the dining room floor. I swear, he'd forget his head if it wasn't attached! Why are boys like that? I've also been asking for several days now for him to pop by the office and grab an October lunch menu. Sure I can see it online, but I like having a copy on the fridge to glance at... Every day, I pick him up. No menu. Go figure.

3. I am thrilled beyond belief that it is Thursday. Thursday means SURVIVOR! I have my box o hooch chillin' and I am ready! :-)

4. It's rainy and gloomy here today. I don't think the high is supposed to be over 50, although my indoor/outdoor thermostat thingie-do is reading 53 outside right now. Still, brrrrrr. It's a good day to stay in my comfy lounge pants and just snuggle in here at home. Until it's time to pick up Buddy, that is. But, after that - no more leaving the house. I love days like this.

5. I'm in debate mode. Look at my profile picture. Do I need a hair cut (trim)? I'm at that point where I feel like it's a bit too long, but I'm not really sure. Maybe take an inch or so off the ends? I hate making hair appointments. I actually have to be somewhere ON TIME. Not that I'm not an anally prompt person otherwise, but in the life of a stay at home mom, time is fluid. I can go to the grocery store at 10 am or 1 pm or 9 pm. Doesn't matter. But, hair and doctor appointments? Someone expects me to bust my ass getting there and my mind is most likely saying, "I don't think so."

6. I am so far behind on blog reading, I'm doing my best to catch up, but if I miss you today, I promise (cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye)to get to you tomorrow.

7. Sissy just went to the restroom (poop and pee, Mommy!). I let her take care of the front business and I use a wet wipe(s) for the back. My middle finger actually poked through the wet wipe, thereby giving me the "Caramel Finger". Don't worry - I washed with soap and water. Thoroughly. But, EWWW!

So, now it's your turn. Tell me your thoughts on any or all of these random tidbits.

  1. OK, Lets take each point on....

1} Girls Night Out is always a good thing...even for the guys.

2} You asked, "Why are boys like that?" For the same reason that girls do not really have peripheral vision. You could tell my wife that that box of tissues was on the counter and if it didn't hit her square in the face, she would miss it. Its just God's way of amusing himself I guess....

3}Yay you! I wish I had a show that I would like to watch. Unfortunately, really nothing on TV other than sports really entertains me.

4} High today here is Mid 90s...Yeah, it gets hot here in south Texas.

5} Your hair is HOT! I wouldn't change a thing.

    6} OK....

7} If it weren't for the fact that I have to deal with stuff like that with 3 boys, I would have said that your comment was too much TMI...but I can so relate.

  3. When you figure your son out, text me immediately, because mine is an enigma wrapped in a riddle (however that saying goes).

I say trim your hair only, and you can't go wrong.

As for appointments, I am the exact same way. If I look at the calendar and see those kind of appointments, it puts me in a horrible mood.

  4. I really need to potty train my daughter - she is so ready. I am dealing with the newborn, and the 4yr old, so I feel like I do not have time!! She'll be 3 in April, and she pees on the potty about once a day or so - she likes pull ups. So I have decided to be lazy, and let her wear pull-ups...hoping she will magically start being dry as the days go on. A girl can dream.

  5. Yay for Girls' Night Out. Hope you have a blast!

I haven't had a trim since May! When your hair is this long you can get away with it, but I HAVE to do that on Wednesday.

EWWWW on the finger. Poor Sissy and poor ETW. Lather, Rinse, Repeat!

Hope you have a great day!

  6. I've been having a hard time getting around to blogs too. First it was football, now church activities. Damn family priorities are getting in the way of my addiction!

  7. Ahhh caramel finger... It's almost as good as kids with snot all over their face who decide they want a kiss about 1 second after you reach for a wipe.

  10. Hair would look pretty with some layers but I like layers. Debbie at Maranatha on Walnut does fantastic cuts many of my friends go to Robi Honaker and HotHeads over of Grant. A little change always makes us women feel a little better.

  11. No on the hair cutting. Just keep growing it until you look like Pocahontas!!

  12. Men will always say leave it alone or let it grow long for better or worse. I don't know why. But I can't advise either 'cause I hate mine right now and am thinking of shaving and having a scalp tattoo!

I guess caramel finger is ok if it's your own kid, but when you're babysitting... THAT's when it's really ewwwwy ;p

  13. I wanna see the movie BAD. You'll have to let us know if it lives up to the hype.

  14. I got up early (why I don't know) and took the nap of the damned. We are looking forward to the movies and Girls Night Out!

Your hair looks great. Let it be.

I think that forgetful thing extends to all kids until all of a sudden one day they seem to know everything and you're going WTF?

Carmel finger happens. As long as it isn't planned and there was a wipe breakdown involved I think it's alright.

I'm off to do recon on the movie plans, but can tell you here that it's Sunday, so that's a start on the planning. Call you or e-mail you later with more details.

  15. I am jealous of your girls night out.

    gloomy here too

    I cut my own hair

    I'm behind too.

No poopy butts to wipe anymore

  16. I want to go to Girls Night Out! Seriously we all need to plan a get together in some sort of central location or somewhere really fun and hang out for the weekend! That would be SO MUCH FUN!

Love the hair... don't change it!

Carmel finger sounds like fun... NOT! YUCKY!

Love this kind of weather as well. My house seems to stay really clean because I'm inside all day and don't go in and out in the evenings. I will be sick of it by the time our high's are only 20!

    Hugs- Tiff

  17. I have heard that film is terrifying. From a person who didn't sleep for a week after watching poltergeist, I wish you good luck with that one. YIKES. There isn't enough money anywhere to make me see that movie.

  18. even the thought of a scary movie frightens me. you're brave. hope you enjoy it.

  19. I had a lot of comments, but just heard that Peter Criss is speaking out about his male breast cancer treatments.

Now, it's off to find the Kaluha for my coffee.

  20. I still get carmel finger once a month or so...and my kids wipe their own...ewwww.

    Ok, not really.

So...hair looks good. I usually dig short hair (not too short) but it doesn't look right on everyone. A trim never hurt anyone though

  21. I personally love long dark hair, so I would say let it grow longer. But my advice would be to do with it what ever makes you happy. If you cut it I'm sure it will grow back if you don't like it.

Caramel finger, funny stuff. I remember how liberating it was when it finally got to the point where we didn't have to do the wiping any more. Until then there are hazards along the way.

I'm back in print, started a new blog today.

  22. Naaa. It isn't a boy thing. My princess does the same thing. As a matter of fact, she came home with another cheerleader's sneakers yesterday. I put them in her back pack in a bag so she could return them and get her's back. Lo and behold she took them OUT of her backpack this morning and left them on the kitchen table in their plastic bag. Go figure.

  23. I have one comment that will touch on two items - the chilly temps (you poor thing, it was 30 here this morning, with SNOW) and the 'caramel finger':

    More Layers!!!

    That is all.
