Fall in WV

We've had some kind of strange weather for this time of year (cooler than normal), so I don't think the trees have changed colors nearly as pretty as in other years, but it's still neat to look out over the mountains and see the changes.

This tree is in our yard:

A view from the front porch overlooking the river to the left:

And another look to the right (I'm not good enough to photoshop out the power lines, sorry!):

It's been in the low 40s most mornings, but yesterday, the high was 73! Heat in the morning, AC in the afternoon. Gotta love the crazy WV weather! Thank goodness I haven't put my shorts away yet! ;-)

  1. It is beautiful....but if we could ever get 5 sunny days strung together, I think it would be much nicer...but who am I to complain...this is all better than that winter crap that's coming!

  2. Pretty! We've had weird weather like that, too, but our trees seemed to change overnight.

  3. Beautiful view from the front porch - I miss living in Boonsboro, MD - we had a mountain behind us - your pics remind me so much of that.

  5. Very cool view you have there. I feel sort of bad for the Evil Twin and all the raking he will have to do. :-)

  6. We've been having to do the same thing here for the last few days. Turn the air on in the late afternoons and then before bed turn it over to heat so it won't get too cold.

  7. I think the leaves here have been spectacular this year, and we have surely had some wonky weather.

I love your view! Wish it wasn't so flat here...

  8. Our leaves are sort of blah, with splotches of color here and there. Maybe the copious rain has something to do with that.

  10. Its nice to actually see leaves that change colors like that. Here, things just go from green - to dead!

  11. Warren - You said it, bro!

Ginger - This year is kind of a bummer...

The Girl - I love looking at those mountains over there.

    3C - I lived in Kansas for a few years. I know flat! :-)

Ron - He will have to rake, but he got a leaf vacuum/mulcher this year, so no bagging! :-)

Jay - It's definitely the "weird" season!

The Dish - You are more than welcome to visit anytime, we have plenty of room. You can even bring cute dog!

Kenju - I think you're right. It's been rainy here too!

Shiny Rod - It has been more vibrant in the past, but still lovely, no matter! :-)

Gigi - I do enjoy the neat color changes. Wish I lived somewhere slightly warmer, though!

  19. I really like the color change and we're just hitting our peak here. Unfortunately, we've had so much rain and wind alot of the leaves are on the ground....mainly in my backyard ;)
