A Beautiful Monday

Well, we had two days out of school last week for snow days, but today was a balmy 70+ degrees and a sunny sky. Such bliss! It's supposed to be fairly nice all week, but I know the cold will return before winter is officially over. Still, just this one day did an amazing job of lifting my spirits.

I got a day out on Saturday with a friend of mine - no kids! It was so wonderful, even though all we did was go to Target. I found some cool things and I picked up a copy of "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert that was recommended by our own Kenju over at Imagine What I'm Leaving Out.

I am only on page 107, but I am enjoying it immensely.

I've had a bevy of interesting things to read lately and that makes me happy. Even if it's just a magazine in the mail, I love stealing a bit of time to myself to take myself out of my head and get into someone else's.

Tomorrow and the next day, I have some time off to myself. I'll have Sissy here, but as of today, The Evil Twin is back at work (after 16 days off!) and it'll be Buddy's first full week of school after the holidays, snow days, etc. I have many little things I need to work on.

I love my family, but I am a loner and always have been. I enjoy my "me time". Having the baby around doesn't count because she's no bother really. Either she'll help me do my stuff or she'll find a show to watch or a toy to play with and stay out of things.

I love having little projects!

  1. I remember "me time." Vaguely...

I thought I was going to have 3 days to myself with no kids, but 2 of them ended up being snow days and the 3rd ended up being taken up with other things.

I really think that if I got some time to myself, it would somehow alter the space-time continuum and throw the world out of orbit or something. I'm sure death would be involved.

  2. I'm glad that you had some time to yourself today!

One of my employees read Eat, Pray, Love and really enjoyed it, too. I understand that there is a 'follow up' book to this one as well.

  3. I'm reading the same book. I love it. I'm the same as you...I like my alone time. With Steve traveling I get a lot of it and then have to adjust to having someone else here. We share some things but Steve is a TV watcher, I read, he likes the snow I don't so the alone time is a good thing.

  4. I've got alone time covered :) Glad you're getting some time to yourself.

  5. I'm glad you are enjoying the book! Thanks for the link. The weather is on a yo-yo again.

  6. I think I would cream my pants if I had the opportunity to shop at Target all by myself. Alone time without the kids is taken for granted..and I have NO free time I hear ya

  7. You have a two year old that stays out of things?

    Now THAT'S amazing!!

  8. Quite a few of my blog friends have recommended books, so I plan to pick a few of them up and check them out.
It'll have to wait until the end of the month when things slow down though. Until then, I'll carry my list in my purse and wait.

  9. I need my alone-time, too. My family lives longer that way.

  10. I'd just settle for some don't-feel-like-crap time. Seriously. I've been wearing my "Life is Crap" t-shirt for 2 days now and I don't think I'll ever want to change it. Glad things are looking bright your way :)

  11. I love reading, too, and I rarely have the "me time" to do it. Glad to hear that you're enjoying some good reading!
