It Really Works!

You know how you see all these products on television trying to sell "this" or "that"? Since I majored in Advertising Journalism, I'm a little jaded to the promises and the hard sell of advertised items.

Well, our son, Buddy is 13. And, in the middle of tween-dom and facial maladies (a.k.a. "acne"). I brought home several products from the store, but either they didn't work or he didn't bother using them.

Many of you know my penchant for watching zit popping videos online and looking at his growing collection of snow-caps was driving me crazy. He wouldn't let me or my hookerlicious nails anywhere near his face.

I thought: "I need to do something about this before I tie him down and pop every one of those juicy suckers." So, I caved. I ordered the Proactiv system.

I do have to remind him to use it twice a day (AM/PM), but the results have been amazing.

It's not completely gone, but it is considerably diminished.

He won't admit it, but I think he's happy with the results as well.

We may just make it through this adolescent time okay! (I just say that to appease myself - I know it won't always be this easy).

It's Mart day for me, but I hope the rest of you hooligans have a lovely Tuesday.

Love,

  3. I'm happy to hear you found something that worked for him. Being a teeenager is hard enough without the added "benefit" of acne.

Mine aren't old enough yet but I know when the time comes I'll do anything I can to make those years more tolerable.

  4. I'm glad to know that. One of my grandsons needs that.

  5. I actually use it on myself and it does work. You do have to massage it in for 1-2 minutes for it to be most effective though.

  7. Gotta use what works! As someone who works for a dermatology company, I'm familiar with lots and LOTS of different therapies - the real bottom-line though is that for most people with facial acne, keeping the face clean and exfoliated works wonders. Therefore, proactiv. If he starts getting 'backne' or zits on his chest you should make a trip to a dermatologist as that stuff is tough to treat with nonpresecription meds alone.

    My two bits...

  8. My brother has had real bad acne since he was a preteen and he is the same way. My mom has bought tons of different stuff home for him, but he uses it a few times and is done. I think he will eventually grow out of it because I've noticed over the past year or so it's been clearing up a bit on it's own. I think he tried the proactive and nothing was working for him though. Who knows. I'm glad it worked for Buddy though! And teenagers will never admit that stuff there mom got for them is useful or helpful, they have too much pride at that age when they are discovering themselves.
