Sissy is eating garlic peas this morning. You know the type: they're freeze dried or something and then flavored. Most people like the wasabi peas better, but the Evil Twin always buys the garlic ones.
And Sissy is hooked! I guess they do have some nutritional value, though? I'm not sure because the Evil Twin buys them at an Asian market and the writing on the package isn't in English.
Now, I can speak Spanish (fairly fluently), I can muddle along in French, but when it comes to the Asian languages, I might as well forget it. I have a hard time keeping up with Ni-Hao Kai Lan (a preschool kids' show about a little girl who is, I believe, speaking Mandarin).
Anyway, I guess it's better than the Pez she normally wants for breakfast. We jokingly call her Pester McFly because the child dearly loves sugar. Most of them do....
I should have seen it coming. I am not big on sweets myself. But when I was pregnant with her, I kept a stash of mini Snickers bars on hand and I would have one per day. I craved the deep fried cheesecake from Mayberry's.
I thought for sure I would end up with gestational diabetes! But, I only gained 13 pounds in 39 weeks and she was an average sized newborn at 7 lbs. 5 oz. A full 5 pounds bigger than her 28 week older brother, so she seemed quite large to me. :-)
When I was at the Mart of Wal on Monday, I dropped off a prescription and then forgot to pick it up. I only realized my oversight as we were headed out of the parking lot, so I'll be going back today(I'm out of it as of this morning, so I NEED that refill!). Luckily, there are a few other odds & ends I need to grab as well, so it won't be a complete waste of time.
I hope you hooligans have a happy Thursday - and don't forget about Friday Secrets. So far, I have no secrets... So, send 'em in!
My oldest is a sugar freak, too. And so am I. I'm amazed she ate those peas, though, lol.
ReplyDeleteAt least she is not eating deep fried mars bars..... Really!
ReplyDeletePeas are healthy, right? Could be worse...she could be like BUG and want Oreo's for breakfast!
ReplyDeletemy daughter loves candy.. any kinda candy.. but esp. chocolate.. she gets it from me... we fight over the candy bowl.. (that i have now put on top of fridge because that is all she would eat... seriously)
ReplyDeleteI have never been one for traditional breakfast either. I had spaghetti squash with tomato sauce this morn.
ReplyDeleteGarlic Peas?! Well... I guess it's better than morning breath ;-)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason my son tends to ask for Ramen for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHe used to eat frozen waffles still frozen...at least he lets me toast them now.
i like to eat something that i'm not gonna mention here for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who craved Taco Bell when she was pregnant. Now, if you ask her son what he wants to eat he'll always yell "TACOOOOOOOS!"
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Wasabi Peas but never garlic peas...huh...interesting. lol
ReplyDeleteForget the kids...I am a sugar freak! I am Hispanic by nature and we had this drink called "Guarape". If you go to any "Bodega" in the Spanish section of New York or Little Havana in Miami, usually in the back corner there is this machine and standing next to it is sugar cane. When you ask for this drink, they take a large glass full of ice. They put it at the bottom end of the machine. Then they take a sugar cane stalk and shove it in at the top. It grinds the sugar cane down and adds water. Comes out like light syrup. Pours into the glass of ice and there you go.
ReplyDeleteI would drink this straight. I am surprised I don't have diabetes today.
Ha. Hooligans. I love that word and haven't heard it in a long time. Cheers ETW!!
ReplyDeleteI’m sure they have better nutritional value than the pez anyway.
ReplyDeleteI don’t have too much of a sweet tooth but I do love some of these Spanish treats which are new to me. Delish!!
my friends son stuck some of those peas up his nose and had to go to the ER to have them removed.
ReplyDeletei don't have a sweet tooth either and i craved tequila when i was pregnant. i would cut up lemons and sprinkle salt on them then eat them. my daughter loves to eat raw lemons now!
