Yesterday, the county called school off for the day. Then, later in the day, I received a phone call that there would be a 2 hour delay for today. (As an aside, why do I always say "2 hour delay" to the tune of "Raspberry Beret" by Prince? There is something very wrong with my brain people).
So, we went to bed thinking we could sleep in a little bit. At 7 am, the phone rang - school is canceled again today!
I'm so glad I went grocery shopping on Monday - it's been the only decent day we've had this week.
Buddy is a happy camper. The only one who has a problem is the Evil Twin. He didn't go in yesterday because it snowed all day and we weren't sure if he'd be able to get back home, even if he could get out.
Today is somewhat less treacherous, so he's going into work - although he is muttering under his breath that when he retires, we're moving South! I hope so!
That's been our life the last couple of days - all snowed in.
I'm just glad I don't have to get out in it.
I realize I haven't posted the secrets for a couple of weeks. I do have one, so if anyone wants to send anything in: eviltwinswife@gmail.com. I'll post whatever I get this Friday. :-)
How much snow y'all getting down there? We're so used to snow up here (western NY State) that we take it for granted that unless we're getting a foot or more overnight it's going to be business as usual come morning.
ReplyDeleteOf course, our taxes are also higher as a result of investing in the gear to make this possible. Otherwise I suppose we would close down just like everybody else.
Ok - I'll go now . . .
OK, my husband lives for bad winters. We moved to Utah expecting to be snowed in all the time and frozen. Our poor families in WV have had twice the winter we have. He's miserably jealous. I think he watches Spencer on the Internet just for fun.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, in Utah we have brown air and you can't go outside for more than 15 minutes. Why do people WANT to live here? :)
I hope it clears out for you soon and leaves nothing but sunshine, rainbows and Unicorns.
It's been ridiculously cold here... but at least there's no snow!
ReplyDeleteIs it time for spring yet?
I'm pretty much willing to go either direction. Further South where I won't have to deal with snow and ice, or further North where they get lots more snow, but have the equipment and actually plan and budget to deal with it. But, this being right in the middle, where we get enough crummy weather to be a real hassle, but not enough to spend money to deal with sucks big time.
ReplyDeleteI'd kill for a snow day. But since I've called in sick a lot the last month, I guess I better take my cheeky self on into work and at least look busy and try to pretend that I like it there.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... I'm not getting that much snow, but it is pretty darn cold. I actually had to zip up my jacket!
ReplyDeleteI have always (and probably always will) live in the Deep South - more likely to have school cancelled for Hurricanes than snow - where snow comes on average of once every 4 years. We have offically had snow on the ground for 2 years running and we might even get our second snow of the season tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteIt tends to be more of a hastle than it's worth (especially if you have to go out in it) because no one here knows how to drive in it.
It's suppose to snow again here tonight and in to tomorrow. They said we would have blizzard like conditions since the winds are going to be blazing by at 35mph straight out of the north. So, our "feel like" temp is suppose to be -25! And, our water froze yesterday! My dumbass husband left me here with no water. So, my Dad came by and fixed us up!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Tiff
A little bit of snowed in is ok. It is all that shoveling that kills me. I hope Evil Twin does that and you get make hot chocolate which he is out there.
ReplyDeleteIf only The Husband and I could agree on a climate. He LOVES the cold, because he is crazy, and I hate the winter. We need a compromise, dammit!
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to be getting 5-7 inches tonight. The good thing is that I am 100 yards from my office. The bad news is I have no excuse to stay home!
Come on down!! We're getting ready for our big freeze down here - for the next few days I hear! brrrrrr....
ReplyDeleteUgh SNOW! We get 12 inches and they don't cancel school here. It's crazy!
ReplyDeleteHey, an extended vacation! Good for you and as far as moving South, you know I am keeping my eye out for you...lol!
ReplyDeleteThey've canceled school here for tomorrow too! Yee Haw!
ReplyDeleteI hate the snow. It's pretty for like five minutes and then it's a big mess. At least you don't have to go out in it! I live too damn close to home to have a very good excuse. And the one huge snow we had was on a weekend! I want a snow day!
ReplyDeleteI learned to hate snow in RI, but since I've been back south for ten months, I kind of miss it - as long as I have absolutely nothing to do, and some movies to watch or a book to read, it can be really nice!
ReplyDeleteWe were ALL EXCITED about getting some and then...
ReplyDeletejust enough to piss me off.
It looks like someone put powdered sugar on the sidewalk. :/
The city of Portland literally SHUT DOWN last week due to 4" of snow. I agree with the sentiment that it'd probably be easier to live in a city that has the equipment to deal with it, although the snow never stops me from going anywhere. It just stops me from going on my bike... ;)
ReplyDeleteTell the Evil Twin that I have not had to start my snow thrower yet here in SATX.
