Buddy has been complaining for a couple of days that his stomach hurt and he had an on-again, off-again headache. But, he didn't have a fever, so I kept sending him to school.
I woke up this morning and MY stomach hurt, but it felt like "that time of the month" crampy - but I'm not expecting THAT for a couple more weeks. (TMI). Anyway, I checked my email, got Buddy some breakfast and started feeling extra cruddy.
Since I've already gone over my allotted TMI here, I'll just say that I didn't know whether to sit or stand in the restroom.
The Evil Twin had an important presentation he had to give at work, so he went on and took Buddy to school. By this time, Sissy was up and I was able to get her to get in bed with me. I turned on the TV and promptly conked out. Next thing I knew, the phone was ringing.
About an hour after being dropped off at school, Buddy was calling from the office. Apparently, he had put his head on his desk this morning. The teacher asked him if he felt bad and he said he had a stomach ache and a headache. She ticked off a list of symptoms on a piece of paper. When he showed it to the secretary, she said he needed to go home.
SO! I had no shower and I looked like crap, but I threw on a coat and put Sissy, still in her PJs, in the van and ran down there. I don't know what I was thinking...I thought I'd pull up and he'd hop in. Duh! I should have realized I'd need to sign him out!
I locked the van, ran inside, quickly signed him out and we were all back home in under 5 minutes.
The Evil Twin called and said he would be coming home after his presentation.
I've taken everyone's temperature several times and none of us have a fever, so I don't know....Should I send Buddy to school tomorrow or not? He didn't even want to come home today because he knew he'd have make up work...
Ugh! At least I have Survivor to look forward to this evening! :-)
I hate this time of year for that very reason. SICKNESS...yuck...it's never ending. You know I can handle Alot of stuff but not the stomach flu. I'm sooo not looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteHope you guys feel better. Oh, I would send him tomorrow unless he just doesn't feel good again. No fever= no contagiousness ;)
Tomorrow is Friday - keep him home and enjoy a 'day off.'
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all feel better! If he feels better, send him on in. If not, enjoy a lazy day at home with both kids!
ReplyDeleteI'd follow Tiff's advice. Come by and see my cold/flu chart today.
ReplyDeleteThe schools are so touchy right now because of the Swine Flu hysteria so I'd keep him home is he feels the least bit off. Otherwise they'll just send him home again.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you and Buddy are sick, I hope it doesn't move on to Sissy and ET. Hope you're feeling better very soon.
ReplyDeleteYuck! I hope tomorrow is a better day. We had so many out today, and I have a feeling that next week will be worse.
ReplyDeleteI'd say if Buddy wants to stay home, let him for one day just to see if it develops into something else. It's that time of year! Hopefully you will both be feeling better tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hope you both feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the stomach flu is a virus that can be passed even if there is no fever, so I would maybe keep him home tomorrow if he stills feels icky.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Hope you are all better soon. No one in this house is sick yet - except one with an ear infection. Got a letter that a kid in my sons school had H1N1 flu....yuck.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the keep-at-home too. Get a stack of movies and take a break!
ReplyDeleteI vote for staying home until he really does feel better...
ReplyDeleteI have a stomach ache right now too:( Poor Buddy, & poor you!
ReplyDeleteLol, Twitter is ridiculous. I'm in a love/hate relationship with it.
Even if it is just a horrid stomach flu running through the family (and that's plenty bad enough), I'd say keep him home too. His immune system would be depressed from the stomach flu and you just don't need him around a bunch of germy kids at school right now with a depressed immune system. Hopefully, you'll all be feeling right as rain by the time Monday comes.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys need supplies and don't feel well enough to get them, give me a shout.
Seems to be everywhere, my oldest son spent 3 days home from school last week too. Ugh. No fun at all !
ReplyDeleteHope everyones all right tomorrow : )
Ooops how did I miss this? I agree with the stay home Friday and rest. The whole time I've dealt with this crud I didn't have a temperature either. Hope you all feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's already Friday so I missed the vote.
ReplyDeleteI'll just say that I hope everyone is feeling better before the weekend. And that you have lots of ginger-ale in the house. And someone to run to KFC. When I'm sick the only thing I want/can eat is KFC mashed potatoes. Go figure.
FEEL BETTER!
Aww, thank you so much for that comment. *Hugs back!*
ReplyDeletesucks about being sick. my son has had a non-stop cough for a week now that is DRIVING ME CRAZY when it hits at 3am!!!
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAll I can do is offer Immodium. We are to that age where it is constantly in stock here. TMI. ;)
ReplyDeletehope you all stayed home, hunkered down and chilled out. feel better :-)
ReplyDeleteBy now, I hope you've overcome whatever overcame you and Buddy. I've been laying down since I went into the hospital 10 days ago. I'm tired of it. I have been out fir errands a couple of quick times, out to eat, to church. Always hurry home to lay down again. When will it ever end?
ReplyDeleteWord of caution: don't ever fall asleep in a hospital. Someone is liable to remove your gall bladder. It happened to me.
I do hope everyone is feeling better now, but it wasn't very nice of you to send the crud to my house!
