So, after my whiny missive of yesterday, I found my day to be getting progressively better!
I don't know why I woke up with such a melancholy feeling. I had a good night's sleep and the weather is warm - even first thing in the morning. Just one of those moods, I suppose.
Plus, being awakened to news that the thermostat was broken didn't help my attitude.
Alas....I woke up and started on my day. And yes, many of my days start with making a lunch for the Evil Twin, but I don't do it on Wednesdays. That's the day a bunch of the office gets together and heads to a local Chinese buffet for lunch, so I'm off the hook for today!
After posting my pitiful update yesterday, I got in the shower. That was really nice! When I got out, I noticed a message on our answering machine.
I don't think I mentioned it here, but last week, I was sent a notice that I had been chosen for Jury Duty. Don't get me wrong - I would LOVE the opportunity to serve and do my civic duty, but right now - it's not going to work for me. I have 2 minor children at home who I am their primary caregiver during the day and since we live on only one income, finding childcare alternatives for them are not in our budget and furthermore, we have no close friends or family who could watch them for an extended period of time.
I pled my case and was awarded a release from duty call on Tuesday morning.
THAT, my friends, was miracle #1.
Then, I dug up the manual for the thermostat. We had a programmable thermostat installed a year or so ago. We still have issues understanding it, but I think that's going to get better.
I picked around on the thing and nothing. I looked at the manual again and still nothing. I tried a third time, and voila! The thermostat works like a charm! Miracle #2.
No need to buy a new one, or install one, but we did look into those options for future reference. Thanks for ALL the advice I received! We will take it to heart and learn from it!
Then, I checked my email. It appeared that my new Lexmark printer had arrived while I was in the shower (I discovered this from the tracking number). Remember last week? I had been up so late with customer service?
Well, the resolution to my problem was that they would send me a brand new and completely free printer. I was a bit concerned since I do run Vista 64 these days, but the set up was seamless and I now have a working, wireless printer again!
Thank goodness for the small things in life.
Don't forget about the Avon givaway. All you have to do is leave a simple comment (and visit the Avon website link) to be eligible. It doesn't get any easier than that.
Love y'all....Mean it!
You are a clever chickie to fix a thermostat.Well done you.xx♥
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear that things are looking up!
ReplyDeleteThem gooder days can be the goodest. Cool that you got a brand new printer, nice to know they back up their product.
ReplyDeleteNow's when your life will fall apart......mine always does!
ReplyDeleteYou better go out and get a powerball ticket tonight! Sounds like a good bunch of stuff going on over your way!
ReplyDeleteGood news all around; glad to hear it. With baby #3 just days away, I won't be on a jury for several years...and jury duty has always sucked for me. The last time I went, their county computers crashed after waiting there for 2 hours! We got released, though... :)
ReplyDeleteI love it when a day comes together.
ReplyDeleteYAY FOR MIRACLES!! And super sweet on the thermostat...
ReplyDeleteNatalie - I didn't as much fix it as I just picked around on it and it started working! LOL.
ReplyDeleteBB - Thanks!
Ron - I know! How cool is that?
JA - I am knocking on wood right this moment. :-)
Warren - You're right. We never play, so I should today.
Gigi - I wouldn't have minded if it was during the school year and both of mine were in school (I'm still a couple years away from that).
A. - Me too!
Cute Ella - Thanks! I really needed those yesterday too.
Can I rub your head for luck?? I need a day or two like this.
ReplyDeleteGlad it all got brighter for you ETW !
ReplyDeleteJohnny Avacado, LOL. I love a good pessimist!
I am so glad things are going well! Send a little of your good luck my way, won't you? lol ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad your day got better! I am so glad that the jury duty issue got worked out. I know you were stressed about that! If I were closer i would have watched them! ;)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Good days are great!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your day got better as it went on...
ReplyDeleteLove & Light~
OM girl
I love how happy you were not to have to make lunch. :) It's amazing how much those little breaks in routine and few good turns can help your world be brighter!
ReplyDeleteBlah. Air Conditioning woes. I just spent $375 getting my rental AC working again! Glad you got yours working for free AND a new printer. How'd you get so lucky?
