A Better Day

Wednesday proved to be a better day than Tuesday, thank goodness.

We belong a local private pool (meaning: we pay for the privilege of being able to use this pool). I know, that makes me sound kind of snobby. But, I'm not really. I just prefer a quieter, less crowded experience. The city pool is crowded - and sometimes the crowd is not what I would like my kids to be around... i.e. parents cussing loudly at their children, etc.

I'm sure it happens everywhere. But it's worth the extra few dollars to me to belong to the quieter private pool.

It's an older pool. I'm not even sure what year it was built, but it has it's flaws. Still, as members, we're allowed to bring any food/drink/floaties, etc. that we would like and there are just a few very reasonable rules.

There is also a snack bar, and while their offerings are limited, at least I can pre-pay on a tab and let my kids get snacks if wanted without me having to carry cash for every transaction.

The pool opens at around 11:30 on most days - but we decided to wait until after lunch to head up there, so we got there at a bit after noon-ish.

The thing I like best is that the baby pool is situated up and behind the larger pool and is also fenced off. In the picture above, you can see the baby pool closest, then the big pool off to the left. Up on the right, I've noted the ever popular snack bar (at least with my 2, it's VERY popular).

I can sit on the edge of the baby pool with Sissy and watch her play, plus also keep an eye on Buddy in the big pool (there are always 2 lifeguards present at all times, as well).

I missed big swatches of skin on both kids, so today, I need to really pay attention to better coverage with the sunscreen!

Yes, we're going back! The Evil Twin took the kids shopping when he got home from work for new pool toys.

Might as well make the most of our membership!

So, if you don't see me around much during the mid-day hours or perhaps I don't have the opportunity to comment on your blogs as much this summer, please just remember I AM reading. I'm just going to be super busy with the summer schedule. It doesn't last long and I'm trying to make the most of the little time we do have.

Until then, you can all be jealous of the barely legal lifeguards who get to see my massive cleavage in my swimsuit on a regular basis!

Happy Thursday, homies.

  1. You are right, I am so jealous of those life guards! I hope they appreciate it.

Better be careful, you do not want to be the cause of any firings because you distract them from their jobs.

  2. I too belonged to that same pool years ago when my daughter was younger. I loved the privacy, allowed pool toys, and could have private parties of the evening. When you spoke of belonging to a pool previously I really figured it was the one other private pool in our small town and couldn't see you enjoying it. It always seems so much more crowded and the one you belong to is more layed back and family oriented. I just do a friends private pool now and can sit back enjoy adult beverages, music, and no kids, LOL...Enjoy your summer! Are you partaking in Riverfest? Not me, hate the crowd, traffic, and heat but love the fireworks and can sit outside at my family home on the hill and watch them in privacy.

  8. I love going to the pool! There is a large one here where I live and it keeps getting dirtier each year...then there is a VERY nice pool by a state park, but it's about 25-30 min away. Luckily, my neighbor put up a pool that is just enough for her family to cool off and I get a season pass, too! Have fun!

What?? You're not even going to share the love??

And no, belonging to a "private" pool doesn't seem snobby at all, but rather seems like common sense!

  10. Before we moved here, we belonged to a private pool, owned by a guy who was a one-time Olympic diver, and they also taught gymnastics. It was a great place, and we went nearly everyday all summer long. That was in the days before sunscreen....LOL

  11. Hey, skinny bitch with the massive hooters.
    Watch out for pool-snipers! LOL.

I don't thinks thats snobby to want a civilized pool environment.
Looks like a fun spot for the summer, enjoy!

  12. Looks perfect! Enjoy it. I also think the money is worth it to avoid the "trash" that collects at public pools. Just last night here at the apartment complex I had to remind some of our residents to watch their mouths because we do have small kids around. But at least they are not parents themselves!

  13. Hey at least you have options..where I live you have ONE pool and one pool only. It's an awesome pool with slides and fountains but gets extremely crowded. Your private pool looks awesome!

Have fun and get a tan for me will you!

  14. When we lived on military bases, the boys and I spent lots of time at the pool. We would go just about every afternoon after lunch and stay until it was time for my ex to be home. I loved those days.

I looked online yesterday to see what kind of pools our city has to offer. The one big pool with slides is only open for two 45-minute sessions per day. You can't do much win 45 minutes! The rest of the day, it's closed. I don't understand that. The Fireman told me about some neighborhood pools that I can get passes for, though, so I need to look into that.

  15. Your photo made me miss what used to be our pool, too :(
Our "new" pool just isn't as much fun...sniff, sniff

  16. Al - The lifeguards aren't usually anywhere near the baby pool, but maybe later this summer I can work my way over to the big pool. LOL.

SALeAnn - Yep, we love the family atmosphere and it's less than a mile from our house. We also watch the fireworks from our front yard!

JA - Something has to make up for all the days spent cooped up in the house due to snow! LOL.

Natalie - We really do enjoy this one.

Momma - anything to get them out of the house and wear them out! LOL.

Michelle - I'll think of you when I'm out there sweating my head off!

    Cute Ella - ROFL.

JFab - that kind of pool is the BEST kind!

Dana - I think I did have a pic in my suit not too long ago. If I can find it, I'll run a repeat tomorrow.

kenju - I remember those "days before sunscreen" too. Seemed easier...

powdergirl - You know my OCD can't take a big crowd anyway, so this place is perfect!

Nonya - Yep, and ours really isn't all that expensive. It beats having to carry cash and pay for entry to the city pool everyday.

Chandra - Wow! I can't believe you only have one choice. I got scorched yesterday, so I'm working on that tan!

Ginger - I hope you find something just right!

MEL - I know! I miss you guys!

  17. Sounds like a great pool. I remember the days of my youth at pools such as this... eating popcorn and diving in water for hours on end and then peeling off thick layers of skin the following day. Ahhh... good times.

  18. I so want to be a member of a pool... sigh, maybe one day!

  19. What you don't like the rough around the edges type of parenting that happens at the public pool...me either. I prefer and older pool with less chaos--I bring my own chaos, don't need anyone elses!

Enjoy your pool time! Good luck with the sun screen application, it can be tricky!

  20. The pool you belong to is also less than a mile from my house. I'm REAL close to the city park. We must be closer than I thought to each other. Small world!

  21. Hmmm....just so we all aren't jealous..I think a 'pic' is in order ;)

  22. We have a pool club too, I'm getting ready to join myself. Over here in Jersey there are no public pools, everyone has one in their backyard to I'm stuck. And it doesn't make you snobby.

  23. You are not being snobby... just being careful. I would do the same. Believe me. I too am spending most of my days by the pool. Enjoy it!!
