I didn't have a whole lot of things to do this week, but for some reason, I was off a day. Like, on Wednesday, I felt like it was Thursday - but, I also knew it wasn't because at Buddy's school, Thursday was scheduled as an early dismissal day.
So, logically, I knew it, but I kept having that nagging feeling! Maybe I was just wishing the week would go by faster and we'd get to the weekend... I don't know.
We're expecting Sissy's big girl bed today. The store called last night and said our scheduled delivery is between 3 and 6 pm. I hope it's on the early side of that.
Maybe I've just been anxious about that transition all week.
I bought all the bedding earlier and have it all washed and ready. I think it's going to look really cute. We went to Kohl's and they had sheets with flowers or with really colorful stripes. I let Sissy pick - she picked the flower ones and I found a coordinating coverlet. I'll snap a pic of it when it's all finished.
We didn't get a headboard or rails. For now, we'll just have it low to the ground, but also use a side rail - just in case. But, if she falls out, she won't be too far from the floor.
I hope you all have a great weekend! I was tagged on a meme - but I'm going to have to mull it over for a bit. Hopefully, I will get that up tomorrow. If not, I'll see y'all again on Monday morning!
We used side rails on a twin bed over a low frame, and they worked great for our kids. Hope Sissy gets to love it quickly.
ReplyDeleteI've had a crazy week as well dear Hausfrau!! I feel you pain...I am frequently off by a day or so lots of weeks. It will be okay girl. You'll catch up and bounce right by back by tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteYou're just too sassy to stay down for very long ;)
You take good care and......
Steady On

Awesome a Big Girl Bed!!! I don't know if you need to worry about the side rails, they make a new safety device. It's a big rubber strap that attaches to the childs feet and to the end of the bed. The only problem is you have to have the bed at least 50 feet off the floor. hmmmm... now that I think about it stick with the side rails.
ReplyDeleteBefore you know it, she'll be graaduating high school. Cherish every minute...but you already know that I'm sure.

ReplyDeleteThe sheet sound so cute! I have been procrastinating on my daughter's bed - still have not ordered it. I think I am not ready for her to be a big girl yet...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the new bed. A big girl bed is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI really hate when I'm one day off. You're at work, puttering along and you think 'Today's Thursday. One more day.' Then someone points out that it's only Wednesday. Or worse, Tuesday. You hang your head and cry.
You remembered the waterproof mattress cover, too, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the big girl bed! Can't wait to see the pics. What, BTW, is a meme?
ReplyDeleteThis week has been an off week for us as well. I kept thinking yesterday was Wednesday and almost missed ER!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe all have those weeks when the weekend can't come soon enough.
ReplyDeleteWhen my oldest son made the transition to the big boy bed, I had to get his big cousin/hero to come sleep in it for a night.
That got it big approval rating from the kid, who helped me disassemble his crib the next morning ; )
Kenju - we got her a full size bed. That's what Buddy has and we didn't want to slight her - plus we figure she'll have friends over for sleepovers later on.
ReplyDeleteReggie - Thanks! I think once this weekend gets going, I should be feeling less confused.
Ron - yep, we'll just stick with the rail.
Red - having one in 5th grade and one at home, I *do* know it goes soooo fast!
Gigi - we just bought a mattress and box springs. Nothing else for now.
Crazy Mo - I know! I felt like crying on Weds! Argh!
3C - Yes, I did get one. Then, I saw the one we used on her big brother's bed in the closet. Oh well, we have a back up. :-)
Vevay - a meme is like tagging someone to participate in some sort of blog shenanigans. You'll see when I post it. It's kinda hard to explain...
Jen - I know - I kept feeling like I was forgetting things, too!
powdergirl - This is a full size bed, so if I or Daddy needs to lie down with her, we can. :-)
Side rails? You don't need no stinkin' side rails. Side rails are for sissys.
ReplyDeleteWait, she is a Sissy. But not a sissy. Make it a REAL big girl bed and dump the rails. A couple of bumps never killed anybody. Mostly.
Either way, good luck and congratulations Sissy!! (You're not a sissy)
FMD
Aww... congrats to Sissy on her first "big girl" bed!!
ReplyDeleteYay for Sissy! Memories of the days of potty training with Sugar Bear are one of the things that soothe my mind when the "I'll never have a child" blues sets in (which really isn't often given my history). You mothers are saints. Saints, I tell ya.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall you being a fan of Wheel of Fortune (or TET wishing you would go on that show and clean up da bucks or summin). Tonight's the 5000th night time edition for Pat Sajak.
I want to see a pic of the new bed
ReplyDeleteA backup mattress protector is good to have - My son had a bad cough a couple weeks ago and basically spit up a bit in bed, but it leaked onto the mattress pad, so I switched it out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the big girl bed! That's so much fun transitioning them! They get so excited about it! I've debated on new furniture for Baylee's room. Only because we don't have an official guest room. And, we should since we have a 4 bedroom house. I just hate it when we have company and we have to kick Baylee out of her bed. Or use the blow up mattress... because it never stays blown up!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Tiff
Sorry to take up more than my share of space here but...
ReplyDeleteSome of the most touching things my kids ever said to me, they said when we were cuddled up in their big cozy beds, drifting off to sleep. )
You're not the only one. I was a day ahead all week long, and I still don't understand why, because there was nothing out of the ordinary this week.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Sissy's big girl bed. Sorry I just got over here, it's been a looong day.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so much fun decorating the kids rooms !!! I always enjoyed it sooo much. I can't wait to see the pics

ReplyDeleteI have been off this week, period. WAY off!
ReplyDeleteSo how old is Sissy? I've been thinking it's time for Violet to get a "big girl" bed and was looking at some online. I'm considering just getting her a twin bed since she's used to having more room. [Read: half the adult bed.]
What type of bed did you go with?
FMD - we didn't use the side rail, but the ET went to check on her and she was hanging over the edge, so I think we may use the one. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlex - Thanks!
BB - Yep, TET wanted me on it to win our "fortune". I'm psychic about the Wheel!
JA - Check in on Sunday or Monday.
3C - always good to have a spare. :-)
Tiff - those blow up mattresses NEVER stay inflated!
powdergirl - Yep. We got in bed with Sissy this morning and she didn't want us to get up!
Amy - I understand it when there's a holiday or something, but this week? Who knows?
Ginger - it was a long day here, too!
The Girl - we're not doing much in the way of decorating, but the bedding is fun to get.
Mary - we went with a full size bed. In case she needs a parent or has a friend sleep over. That's what our older son got when he transitioned too - and they both got out of the crib around 3 yrs old (her bday was Feb. 2).
You're pretty brave to get her a regular bed - we went with the toddler bed for a starter, which worked well for us but did require another small transition when they got 'regular beds.'
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the adjusting.
