Apparently, on Blogger, one can only follow 300 blogs. I tried to add a new one this morning and was notified that I would have to delete one in order to add the newest addition.
The thing is, some of the blogs I've followed in the past no longer exist and I just hadn't gotten around to taking them off my follow list.
So, just because I "followed" 300 blogs doesn't mean I read 300 blogs a day. Probably a good number of those don't do daily or sometimes, even a monthly post. I tried to be conservative on the unfollowing and tried to make sure I only deleted the ones I knew for sure had no activity whatsoever and had most likely been deleted.
Trust me, if you are a regular blogger, you made the cut. I only deleted 44. And, I even kept the ones who haven't been posting for a while, but I know they're on hiatus for a bit.
Still, it's kinda sad to let go. I've made lots of friends (both IRL and online) through blogging. I've had the good fortune to meet many out of state bloggers when they travel through West Virginia. It's sad to see someone "drop off the grid".
But, I am thankful to know all these people through the years. I hope to meet many more in the future!
If nothing else, I want to be one of your 300. One of the 300 possible blogs you follow. I don't mean I WANT 300 followers, I just want to be on your list! :-)
Now it's time to bust out the leftovers and eat more. I hope you all had a wonderful and FULL Thanksgiving day! Enjoy your Friday (and long weekend)!
Love,
Try Google Reader. It's a much easier way to organize and keep track of your blogs PLUS... no limit. (:
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I made the cut, ETW.
ReplyDeleteNeat how you see us as friends!
I had a similar experience. Lots of people seem to have dropped off the face of the earth, but there are still more than I can reasonably follow -- according to Blogger. I need to do something else.
ReplyDeleteI follow some and have the rest on Bloglines - which I like a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad to see a favored blogger drop off the grid!
I noticed someone I really like (yes, I see some fellow bloggers very much as friends) no longer seems to have their blog, just a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI still am very sad about this. I wonder what happened to her. Did she just not want to blog any more? Did something bad happen to her or her family?
I hope to see her at some point with a new blog, but don't think it will happen.
Anyway, I don't follow as many people as 300, but I'm sure I will at some point. And if we want to follow more, we should have the choice to do so.
I was playing around with the idea of exporting my blog to wordpress. You keep all your posts and comments, but apparently you lose all your photos. And I think I have tweaked my blogger blog so much, I would be sad to see the unique design and look be lost.
A lot to think about. Wordpress just seems to have less limits, and more choice with how you can shape your blog. Anyway, that was me off on a slight tangent.
Hope you had fun over the holidays. xx
I've run into that same problem before too! Very annoying. I kinda wish that when a blog is removed/deleted, that Blogger will simply just remove it from my Followers List for me.
ReplyDeleteBut that would make too much sense.
Many blogs have fallen along the wayside. Even I haven't maintained the same one solidly.
ReplyDelete300?! Wow.... that's a lotta blogs
ReplyDeleteI try to follow people, but have never been able to figure out the 'reader' thing. I end up just linking them through my favorites list, if they aren't linked directly from my blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't post as often as I used to; glad to see that I made the cut!
If you use google reader you can follow as many as you want!
ReplyDeleteYour def on my list
ReplyDeleteI have to add to the awesomeness of the google reader. It really helps you keep track of your blogs.
