As usual for WV, the weather has done a 360 and is now perfectly balmy. I love it!
But, I can't bring myself to turn on the AC just yet. It HAS been on, but that was the Evil Twin's doing.
I don't know which I hate more: Winter or artificial cold air (aka The AC). It's ceiling fans and open windows for me....until it gets absolutely unbearable.
That would be July around here. Or May, if you're at Disney World in Florida.
We went the first week of May in 2009 and it was near 90 degrees at 7AM. I would make it to lunch time and finally tie my hair back and not worry about my make up that had already run off my face. I thought: "These people won't ever see me again. Probably."
But, all vanity was out the window at that point. Sort of like having a baby, and every person who works at the hospital - from your OB to the guy who delivers your lunch tray - has seen WAY too much of your naked person.
I would just shrug and tell them to move the food tray closer to me. LOL.
The Evil Twin joked that there was an oversized photo of my hoo-ha outside my room. Ya just don't care.
I'm sitting here, with my fan on and enjoying the sunshine. Bella (the cat) is perched up on the back of the loveseat, in the big bay window. She is the laziest thing I've ever seen and I think she may have pooted in her sleep. Because I smelled something pootish earlier.
Apparently, I can train her to use the toilet, but not to keep her farts to herself. Gross! At least I can hold my breath when I flush the poops down the toilet. And no, she does not use toilet paper. She licks her butt like every other kitty. Maybe she's not licking hard enough?? I don't know.
Well, that's my Thursday morning. I hope my hooligans don't have to smell any gassy pet odors or anything else unpleasant. Have a great day!

Aaaachooo
This is going to be a quickie today.
Just when I start recovering from the cold/sinus/respiratory crud, the allergies set in.
My eyes are so runny, I can barely see.
Ahhh, it's great to be ME! I don't spend time on my kabuki face, only to have it washed off by my runny and goopy eyes.
I can't see and I have to go pick up Sissy from school. FUN!
Let's hope I don't run a YELLOW light again today. Is "I can't see because my allergies are making my eyes all runny and junk." a good defense?
Happy Tuesday, hooligans. :-)

It's a Gloomy Day in the Neighborhood
As usual. I wish Mother Nature would pick a season and stick with it. I don't function well with "in between" scenarios.
At least we had a relaxing weekend - it went by much too fast!
Then, just to top off the excitement of a new week...As I was driving home after getting Sissy to school, I was pulled over by the Po-Po.
There is an intersection here where I have to turn left. The light only allows about 3 cars through before it turns red again and stays red for eleventy billion minutes. When I approached the light and started to turn, the light went to yellow, so I zipped on through.
Anyone ever heard of the "point of no return" (i.e. when you are halfway under the light, and it's yellow, it's kinda too late to stop.)
So, I continued on my trajectory, eager to get home. Only po-po had a different idea. I saw him back up into a parking lot, turn left and turn the lights on. I knew I was in his sights.
I had to drive a bit to find a place to pull over. He approached my van and I already had my license, registration and proof of insurance out. He ain't gonna catch me ridin' dirty.
I rolled my window down and said, "That light was clearly yellow." And he said, "So, you know why I pulled you over and no, that light was red." (bool). I said, "No, it was yellow and I didn't have time to stop."
That's when he pulled rank on me and said we could sit there and disagree on the matter and he could write me a ticket and see me in court, or I could just take the "friendly warning". Seeing as how gas prices are so high, I can't afford a ticket AND driving downtown. (plus, I'm a cheapskate).
I may not be too smart, but I just shrugged and shut up at that point. He contacted whoever they contact to make sure I wasn't a fugitive or wanted for any other crimes and said, "Just watch out for those red lights." It was YELLOW!
The whole thing pissed me off and wore me out, so I came home for a short nap. Now, I have to get ready for the day and do some crap around the house. Can you see where my life gets the glamor?
I didn't think so.
Hope my hooligans are having a better Monday! :-)

Sometimes, The Lazy Sets In
But by "lazy", I mean not "doing nothing", but not doing anything too strenuous. Dishes are in the dishwasher, the kitchen is somewhat clean and I have the washer and dryer going for laundry.
It just seems like a good day to chill, organize junk, make some phone calls and pay some bills.
Regardless of what any one might tell you, organizing, bill paying and trying to keep up with a house that only stays clean for a few hours is very tedious and time consuming.
There is always something to do.
The Evil Twin doesn't believe me - that I can spend an entire day on small things (but still, things that matter and are important).
Well, I can't help it that this junk needs to be accomplished. I can only do so much in the day - I sleep approximately 6 hours a night - I just have to do my best.
Having an "invisible" disease, like MS, doesn't help any. I can be worn down to the bone, but no one else knows it or sees it. I keep the happy face for the children.
Remarkably, I'm having a great day - and I hope all my hooligans are as well. Just remember: do your best and don't feel guilty about what you miss. It'll be there tomorrow!

Time
Whether it's an hour back or an hour ahead, it always takes me a week or so to get into some type of regular schedule. My sleep schedule is way off and add I wake myself up coughing several times a night to the time change...well, I haven't been getting much rest. Blah!
Then, I feel like a slug most of the early part of the day. Thankfully, at some point, I will catch my 2nd wind and be productive for a few hours in the late afternoon/evening.
A week or so ago, I got an email from a reader who wanted to submit a Friday Secret and I kept meaning to post it. Being so scatterbrained these days, I would forget to do that. SO, with that being said, I will post it this Friday and if anyone would also like to participate, make up a fake email addy (or use your own if you're bold - I'd never tell a soul anything anyway), then send your secret to eviltwinswife@gmail.com.
I will also post pictures if you send them. However, let's keep this PG-13. A little risque is ok, but let's face it: no one wants to see your bunghole with a carrot sticking out of it (truth: I have seen this before and it can't be unseen).
Have a happy Monday, hooligans!

A Strange Morning to top off a Strange Week
I love the "spring forward" time change, but it does take me a week or two to get in the groove of things.
All week, it seems like time has just been flying by. I look at the clock and it's almost time for Sissy's bath and bedtime. And I think, "Where did the day go?"
Luckily, it kind of caught up with me this morning. I had a decent night of sleep (i.e. I wasn't awakened every 2 hours in an attempt to cough up a lung or at least just try to catch my breath between hacks.), so I was motivated.
I managed to feed both children and get the little one dressed for school.
Then, the weather started acting odd. Lots of lightning and thunder and rain - but the rain was on again/off again for a bit.
After I missed a step and severely sprained my left ankle when Buddy was in preschool, that ankle has become my weather vane. We have a meteorologist on our local news by the name of Tony Cavalier. He's very likeable and a thorough weather caster.
Anyhoodle, I decided to call my bum left ankle "Bony Cavalier", because it usually knows about weather anomalies before anyone else. I'm like some ancient person..."My bursitis is acting up."
At any rate, Bony is spot on for weather updates. If I'm hobbling around, there's some atmospheric change a' coming.
Bony was not off course this morning. It's been raining with thunder and lightening.
It's almost a bit scary, but also a bit cool. The cat is having none of it and she is camped out under the coffee table.
All I know is after I dropped Sissy off at school, I made a beeline back to home base ASAP. When it rains hard around here, the valley tends to flood. Thank goodness we live on a hillside and aren't in a flood zone area.
I'll be very surprised if we have electricity later. We love our little burg, but it doesn't hold up so well under extreme weather conditions.
OK, hooligans, keep your fingers crossed for good luck that my family and I are not struck by lightning today! Eeeek!
Have a rockin' Ides of March!

More of the Same...
Sissy woke up with a fever this morning, so another kid at home with me all day. I've been feeling sluggish because I would like a full night of sleep, but the incessant coughing wakes me every so often.
I then shuffle out to the den and try to get some Zzzz's on the couch and also try to not wake the entire house up with my creeping crud.
It's a catch 22. I need rest to get better, but I can't rest because I'm sick.
I feel like we're all just passing around assorted germs. I don't get sick often, but when I do, whatever I get latches on and wants to be my BFF.
I'm trying to catch up on my good blogs I read....When I can't keep my eyes open for very long, it's difficult to read much. You know how that goes.
I've got an errand to run and then, laundry to sort. And, my day is not even halfway finished. Ugh!
So, I wish my hooligans a happy Wednesday!

Slowing Down
But also perking back up again. I'm so tired of having this freakin' head cold/sinus whatever going on. I just can't seem to shake it.
I just haven't had much energy lately. I try, I really do. But, sometimes I just can't finish everything. So my "to do" list grows longer and even that makes me tired just thinking about it.
Sissy and I butted heads this morning before I took her to school and I hate that. I hate anyone in the family to set off on the wrong foot for the day. I just don't think it's healthy for any parties involved. But, she can really push my buttons and Tuesdays are typically kinda stressful for me anyway.
Anypoodle, I am not going to dwell on that right now. It's water under the bridge.
I have my "to do" list handy and have already started one load of laundry. I've been so under the weather the last few days, I neglected reading all my favorite blogs, so I was able to take the time to catch up this morning. I probably didn't comment as often as usual, but believe me, I read and enjoyed them all.
And now, I must pursue the painful act of catching up on bills. :::sigh:::
I hope the hooligans are having a better Tuesday than me! :-) It's supposed to be in the 70s today, weather wise, and that should help with my perking up plan!

Please! Spring, Hurry Up!
I'm so sick of the crazy weather lately and of being sick myself almost non stop since December.
Yesterday, around 10A, I received a call from Sissy's school. She had thrown up twice and needed to be picked up.
The Kindergarten kids are seated around rectangular tables...I think there are about 6 children per table...Anyway, the first upchuck episode was on the table. I'm sure her table-mates enjoyed that. She had pepperoni for breakfast (don't judge me, it's what she wanted and is not much different than bacon or sausage), so the breakfast came up. Such a treat for her other classmates.
I was told that the school doesn't want them to return until 24 hours past their last vomit episode, so she is home today. She feels well and says her stomach doesn't hurt.
The culprit of all this mess is the weather. We've had snow, flood watches (monsoon type rains), and sunny almost 70 degree days in the last week and a half. It's no wonder everyone is sick as can be.
I had plans yesterday to go to the Mart, but didn't want to risk a chance of my child vomiting in the store. So, we will go today. She can be my little helper.
Maybe we'll stock up on OTC meds to get us all through this sick-a-palooza.
We've had a really mild Winter, perhaps it never was cold enough to freeze all the random germs.
Have a happy and hopefully, illness-free Thursday, hooligans!

Watch Kitteh
Bella has become a diligent watch kitteh for our house in the last few months. We can always tell if an unusual vehicle drives onto our little dead end road or if anyone is approaching the house.
She starts growling, her tail puffs up and she usually runs for a bed to hide under.
This morning, I woke up coughing and snotting, as has been my case for at least a week. It was very early in the morning, so I decided to just try to get some rest on the couch instead of waking up the whole family with my creeping crud.
Bella has always been my little shadow, so she escorted me from the bedroom to the den, made herself comfy and I made myself comfy. For a bit.... then she comes running onto the couch and is looking out the big bay window. Not only was her tail puffed up, but the hairs on her back were straight up as well.
I looked outside. It was still dark and I couldn't see anything, but it's not unusual at all to have any number of woodland critters in our yard. I didn't see any squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, birds or deer. There was no one parked in our driveway. I don't know what set her off, but I'm glad to have her around.
She doesn't growl or get all hinky about the neighbors and their cars. I think she recognizes them. She also knows the mailman's truck.
She is extremely peeved if anyone she doesn't recognize enters the house. There will be much low growling and she'll get real close to the ground in search of a happy bed to hide under.
To think this little woobie was in a shelter out in the middle of nowhere Kentucky makes me sad. She does get into mischief, but overall, she makes me so happy. :-)
Here's her "adoption" photo:
She is much bigger, spoiled rotten and fat as a pig now, but she's mine. And, she looks after us.
Dogs need to be walked every day and go outside to do their business. Bella is content to sleep on the couch all day and uses the regular toilet (no litter box for my baby). I like the "no frills" pets. :-)
Hooligans, happy Tuesday!
Love,
BTW: She is named for the Spanish word for beautiful and NOT the Twilight chick.

It's March?
Aaaaand it started snowing yesterday evening. I didn't think it would stick, but it did.
I woke up early this morning (as usual, since my sinuses, the coughing fits and a certain four legged fur ball tend to rouse me early) and shortly thereafter, I got the autobot call from the county that our county had a two hour delay. Most of the counties around us did too and a few in more rural areas were closed altogether.
This is really the most snow we've had this year. I'm not pleased at all, but it's supposed to be 57 degrees tomorrow, so I think everything will melt and we'll move forward to Spring. I can't wait!
When the Evil Twin retires, I have my sights set on Orlando. You can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl.
I'm like Jim Morrison, only I'm the Lizard Queen. And, I'm female. And not a druggie or a hippie, so yeah, only a tiny bit in name only. I'm pretty sure I'm cold blooded. Maybe that's why I like all my slithery and lizardy compadres so much.
I've already lost half a day to the "two hour delay" sitch and I have so much to do.
I'm going to do as much as I can, so I'm outta here. Hope all my hooligans have a better Monday than me. :-)
