721 - I got nothing

So, I spent my day yesterday flipping through the dictionary to assign 5 random words to those who asked for them. It was actually fun. I did try to shy away from words that I felt would be difficult to really write anything about.

I'm looking forward to everyone's answers.

I'm thinking that it really is fall time already. It was chilly this morning. Time to break out the jeans. Yuck. I prefer short and bare feet! :-)

I'm really going to miss the warm weather.

I broke out the space heater this morning to knock the chill off a bit. I refuse to turn on the heat just yet. Besides, we have gas heat and the prices keep going up, so lord knows if we'll even be able to afford the bills this year.

It's a good thing my family likes pinto beans and cornbread! ;-)I see lots of that in our future!

  1. Well at least with the pinto beans you will have all the gas you can handle at no additional cost! :-)

  2. It was super cold here this morning too. We turned on the heat in the office, you know, since we don't have to pay for it. But I threw on flip-flops to walk the dog this morning and thought my feet were going to fall off. Not cool.

  3. I wish the cold would stop at sweater weather - before we need coats and snow shovels. This weather makes me sad. :(

  4. Yup, 32 yesterday at 6:30...I refuse to turn the heaters on too....I'm just adding clothes. Once Steve the wuss gets home I know he will insist on heaters. Pinto beans and cornbread sounds good.

  5. I'm just not ready for the cold yet! I generally love this time of year but right now all I can think is nooooo... not yet!

And can I get 5 words?

  6. And that's why I love it here in Nort Cakalacky. Still warm and we haven't even had our State Fair. Hmmm, pinto beans and cornbread...

  7. Yup, fall is in the air, I like to pretend its not the precursor to winter and just enjoy the pretty colors.

  8. I prefer the temps stay just a little warmer than sweater weather. That way I see women with Tee shirts on and their headlights on too ;-)

  9. Ron - As long as it never involves a dutch oven, I'm ok with that.

Dish - I almost cried when I thought about breaking out the socks earlier!

    Ginger - Me too!

rosemary - It's 59 here at nearly 2 pm. Unusual for this time of year!

Paige - I'm with you and I'll get your 5 words out in a bit.

Shiny Rod - When the Evil Twin retires, we are SO moving South!

Powdergirl - I'm going to try that approach!

Ron - They make bras to avoid the "headlights" dilemma...I guess some ladies don't bother shopping around. LOL.

  10. I am practically jumping for joy that it is supposed to get under 70 degrees in Florida tomorrow. Sure it will be right before dawn and last three minutes but after boiling for five months, I'll take any excuse to put on a sweater.

  11. Super cold here as well..43 degrees when I got up at 4:45am to go run..my hands and nose were pretty numb by time I was done but like you I refuse to turn on the heat since we are gas as well. I was smart and did the level pay plan again this year. We had a very mild winter last year so my monthyly amount actually went DOWN! I even gave in and wore actual shoes instead of my sandals...I love Fall but hate giving up the warm weather too...BUT that only means the holidays are right around the corner!

  12. Yum. I made that recipe of yours several months ago - time to go buy some more bacon, I suppose! :)

  14. I heard on the news that home heating bills should be 30 to 40 percent lower than last year. I think that was national and not just in my area.

I keep my house at about 65 and rely on the pot belly wood burning stove to heat us up. And my gas bills are always pretty reasonable.

  15. Mmmm...pinto beans and cornbread. That sounds so good. Although good homemade gumbo is a close second. There are few things better in the cool Fall weather than a good pot of soup.

  16. I don't know how cold it is here, but I refuse to turn on the heat too. I'm actually wearing layers I'm so cold. But, until the HVAC man comes out to give it the annual "Okay to fire up the heat" check, I don't trust the heater. I'd rather wear layers than hear kaboom, kwim?

The gas heater is the only thing in this house I'm meticulous about. Why? I fear kabooms.

  18. Yummy, brown (aka pinto) beans and cornbread! Nothing better except for leftover brown beans and cornbread. Add a little onion and Texas Pete for flavor.

  21. We like beans and macaroni when we are feeling poor.

I'm kind of ready for the cold weather. It's raining and 41 here today. It was 90 yesterday. The mountains are getting FEET of snow. I guess I'm just kind of excited to see what winter will be like here.

Check with me in February. I'll be crying and trying to run away to Florida.
